I have a ten year old Mini Schnazuer (Gracie), who is on 20mg of trilostane. Every 4 weeks, like clockwork, she quits eating because her stomach is upset and I have to take her off the trilostane for a couple of weeks until she starts eating again. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their dog and if you had any suggestions on how to deal with this. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to you and little Gracie! My first thought is to wonder whether perhaps Gracie’s trilostane dose is too large — that her cortisol may be falling too low and she needs the time “off” in order to allow it to rebound.
Can you tell us more about her overall health history, the symptoms and testing that led to her Cushing’s diagnosis, and also her treatment history with the trilostane? How long she has been taking it, any dosing changes, and also the results of monitoring ACTH blood testing. Last but not least, how much does Gracie weigh?
I apologize for so many questions, but your answers will really help us sort through possible problems for your girl.
Once again, we’re really glad you’ve found us!

Hi and welcome to you and Gracie! :)
Marianne has asked the important questions so I will just say I am glad you found us and look forward to learning more very soon. You and Gracie are now part of our little family here at K9C and we will be happy to help any way we can. You will never be alone on this journey.

Hello and welcome from me too.
I agree with Leslie and Marianne, I'd really want to know what her ACTH value is at when she stops eating. Do you have any tests from around a time where she stopped wanting food?
