This morning my husband gave our 90 lb. Aussie, named Wilbur, his usual dose of a 60 mg capsule. Not knowing that Wilbur had had his vetoryl capsule, I just gave him another 60 mg. capsule with dinner....10 hours later.
Should I keep an eye on him throughout the night, and get him help medical help if he displays any of the overdose signs? Or, should I get help right away? I'm really worried......

Hi Nan, and welcome to you and Wilbur! My guess is that he'll probably be fine even with this one-time "double-dosing." If he were mine, I'd just keep an eye on him and probably withhold any Vetoryl at all tomorrow. If he otherwise seems fine, I'd then start back on his regular scheduled dose on Tuesday. That would give at least a full 36 hours for the effects of the second dose to exit his system before resuming the medication again. For future safety, you can ask your vet for a small amount of prednisone to keep on hand in the event that Wilbur's cortisol level ever drops too low at a time when you are unable to quickly get him in to a vet for evaluation.
We'd love to learn more about Wilbur and his diagnostic and treatment journey. For how long has he been taking the Vetoryl, and how is he doing?
