Hello Desia, and welcome to you and Lucas -- I'm so glad you found your way to our forum!
You'll see that I've taken the liberty of moving your initial post from our "Polls" thread and placing it here on our main discussion forum. This way, it'll be easier for our members to reply to you directly.
I see you have several questions, but before answering, I'm going to ask you a few questions, too. Your answers will help us give you better feedback. Can you tell us more about Lucas' overall health history, as well as the symptoms and the tests that led to his Cushing's diagnosis? Exactly what dose of the trilostane has he been taking, and for how long?
It sounds as though he's had two ACTH tests so far -- perhaps one when he was first diagnosed, and then a second one to monitor how well he's doing on the trilostane? If you can get us the exact numbers for those ACTH tests, that would be great!
OK, I'm going to close for now, but once again welcome to you both!

Hello and welcome from me too. Is the vet sourcing the trilostane from the same place each time? It should be around the same price, but I suppose it is dependent upon how much it cost the pharmacy to buy the trilostane, as that is probably bought in bulk.
I await with Marianne you getting back to us with the answers to her questions so we can learn more about your Lucas

I have merged your new thread about wanting to stop the Vetoryl into Lucas' original thread. We like to keep all info about each pup in one thread. That way it is easy for everyone, including you ;), to look back thru the history when needed.
Thanks!

Thank you I am not sure yet how to use the site so hope i am doing this correctly? I will get the lab reports to you. I think the Cushex s is a better way to go than steroids Trylostane? and also the use of CBD oil ? What is your experience? I think he is doing better? goes for the third test end of this month September.
Is there a way I can scan lab reports to you?

You can just type in the results for those test results and as an example for an ACTH stimulation test it would look like this: pre = 4.0 ug/dl -- post= 5.6 ug/dl.
Cushing's is when a dog's body produces excessive amounts of cortisol. And if Lucas does indeed have Cushing's unfortunately I don't know of any truly effective holistic/alternate substitutes to the Rx medication when one wants to lower cortisol levels significantly. Having said that, if clinical symptoms are not that bothersome to the dog or owner, some members have told us that Cushex and Adrenal Harmony Gold worked very well in controlling symptoms but only for a short time period. Now, Cushex and Adrenal Harmony Gold have no controlled clinical testing whatsoever to back up their claims (we know this because we have contacted the manufacturers and we have been told that no testing has been done).
How are Lucas' symptoms?

Hello and welcome to you and Lucas from me, too. I don't have any more to add than what the others have said, though I look forward to learning more about your boy.

The main thing is to keep the cortisol levels lower, and that is what trilostane does. Unfortunately uncontrolled cortisol can wreck havoc on the internal organs of the body. I wish we had testing that confired that cushex lowered cortisol levels enough but we just don't. (we'd recommend it if we did)
I'm not overly familiar with the use of the CBD oil and I don't think it has been used very often by our members, but I know it has been mentioned as a possibility before, so hopefully someone who has used it will stop in.

Hi again, Desia!
I just now saw your note to me, and I wanted to rush and add a reply to your thread so that it'll bounce back up to the top of the index page again. So here goes...;)
OK, now that I've done that, you mentioned in your note that you have some lab results to report. You can just go ahead and type them in another reply here -- all we need are any abnormal results on regular labwork, along with the reference ranges. For specific Cushing's diagnostic or monitoring tests, you can just type those numbers here, too. Usually it will only be two or three different cortisol levels.
