Lilli is a 9 1/2 year old cocker spaniel. She was diagnosed after testing with Cushing disease 2 years ago. A year before she had the autoimmune disease lymphatic anemia and given prednisone in very high doses. She did eventually recover from that only to get Cushing Disease. I chose not to treat her because of the past illness. I'm interested in knowing what other members did about the disease.

Hello, and welcome to you and Lilli. You'll see I've moved your reply so as to start a thread that is your very own. This way, it'll be easier for our members to reply to you directly.
First of all, congratulations to you and Lilli for her recovery from the anemia. That can't have been an easy time for either of you. We are aware that lengthy steroid treatment can cause a type of Cushing's known as Iatrogenic Cushing's. However, this condition is completely reversible upon cessation of the steroids. So from what you've written, I'm assuming there was a time separation between the prednisone and the onset of what is now assumed to be naturally occurring Cushing's?
Can you tell us more about Lilli's symptoms and also the diagnostic testing that led to the Cushing's diagnosis? And how is she doing now in terms of overt symptoms and also any abnormal lab values? Last but not least, is there any fear that her anemia will return either with or without treatment?
I apologize for so many questions, but your answers will help guide our additional thoughts and feedback. Once again, we're really glad you've found us.
