I did many test, in the end i asked to do cushing test with low dexametasone. My vet was doubt about cushing because its rare in Lithuania and she doesnt looks like, she only has one simptom -thirsty. The test made me doubt a little. So i did CT (computer tomography), they saw tumor on adrenal gland and metastasis in lungs. I am going to go on vetoryl. Please share what can i do :( feel hearbreaking

Hi Lina and welcome to the forum.
I'm very happy to see that you took my recommendation and joined us here. I have manually approved your membership so you can disregard our email asking you to validate it.
I am so sorry to hear that your pup's adrenal tumor has metastasized to the lungs. Here in the states, the first line of treatment for a functional adrenal tumor is surgery but it sounds as though your precious girl is not a candidate for that. Cortisol is the adrenal steroid that causes the symptoms we see in cushing's. Prednisone is the synthetic equivalent of cortisol in drug form and this drug is often prescribed as part of a treatment regimen for dogs with cancer. Some vets will therefore choose not to treat the cushing's as higher cortisol could actually be beneficial in improving quality of life for dogs with terminal cancer, especially those who have a rapid form of cancer. It can help slow the progression, provide anti-inflammatory properties and improve the appetite. Has your vet given you any prognosis as to survival time and has your vet prescribed any treatment for cancer?
I do hope others will be by to welcome you as well as provide their own thoughts. In the meantime, I am providing links to some very good information on Vetoryl. This will help you understand treatment and monitoring protocol that is so very important. You need to be a very proactive participant in your girl's care so that you and your vet can work as a team. Your part in her treatment is the most important so please take a look at the brochures and let us know if you have any questions. I will look forward to your answers to my questions.

Welcome from me, too! As you can see by my avatar photo, I am a lover of Labradors, as well :o. I join Glynda in telling you how glad I am that you are here, but I also am very sorry about the cancer diagnosis. Glynda has already asked some great questions, so I will await your answers. But I still wanted to have the chance to welcome you to our family.

Sorry, you mean not to use vetoryl? I visit a lot of vets, they didnt say nothing. Just they cant do surgery and the best option give vetoryl. But its chemical, i think cancers like it, no? Oir cortisil level not high 58 nmol/l , with low dexamethasone after 4 hours 53nmol/l after 8 hours 50nmol/l . But she drinks 3-4 litres in a say, but we dont give her to drink so much. Could i try cushex drops? I didnt mentiin that for know its looks she feels fine. But am in pain just because i know what is her inside

Lina, dogs with cushing's drink more water to stay hydrated because they pee so much. If you withhold water, your dog could dehydrate quickly and even die.
I do not know anything about your dog's cancer diagnosis so it was not my intent to make any recommendation to you as I am not a veterinary professional. My intent was to provide you with information that might possibly apply to your dog's situation so that you can discuss it with your vet. Has your vet talked to you about treating the cancer and if so, what has he recommended?
I think it would be fine to try Cushex Drops as long as you know that it has not been proven effective in reducing cortisol. However, many pet owners have reported their dogs seem to feel better and even see some improvement in symptoms. Again, this is not scientific evidence that it works for cushing's but that product has been on the market for a long time and I've never heard anybody mention any serious side effects.

I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with any alternative/holistic treatment for cancer. This type of cancer can spread quickly so quality of life may be an issue in the near future. To be perfectly honest, knowing that the cancer is terminal, I'm not sure I would choose to treat with Vetoryl as letting cortisol run high may actually help.

Metastasis type? Thats heartbreaking... i am working all day long, so she lives with my parent where she never stay alone, and its her home. When i moved out i took her with me when i available but i see she is not feeling great at this new place. When i see her its so hard to look at her that she sick... :(

Welcome. I do do sorry to hear that the cancer has spread to her lungs.
I think that as Glynda said a this point it is all about quality of life.
Unfortunately I don't know of anything to be done once cancer spreads to lungs. :(.
Play with her, love on her. Whatever she wants. Mainly be with her.

Hi Lina,
As you can see I shifted your post from another member's thread into your girl's original thread because, as Iris mentioned, this member hasn't been active since 2014 and also we are able to keep track of her entire health and treatment history all in one place.
Concerning the cushex drops I'm not sure what the dosage is for dogs but it will probably be on the product label.
Hugs, Lori
