My 15 year old beagle Princess has been diagnosed with Cushing but they can't be sure, when they did the suppresion test part of the test was positive and part of the test was not positive.
My vet said if we are not completely sure she can't give her the medicine because it can be very dangerous for her she can die so she put it in a holistic treatment Melatonin 3mg twice a day and HMR Lignans once a day. She told me I won't see any improvements after 2 months. September 18th is going to be 2 months, I just hope to see some improvements because right now she still drinking a lot, pee a lot and she still hungry all the time.
If anyone know if this treatment will work and I'm on the right track I will appreciated if you let me know.
Also Princess has anxiety problems and she takes Fluoxetine 5mg a day.
My native language is spanish so don't look on my grammar mistakes, I try my best :)

Hi and welcome to you and Princess!

It would help us a great deal if you could share more information about your girl, in this way we can provide you with our best possible feedback and we get this information through a ton of questions so here goes some of mine. ;) Could you get copies of all tests that were done on Princess and post those values that are abnormal. With respect to the blood chemistry and complete blood count (CBC), you need only post the highs and lows and please include the normal reference ranges. Would you please post those LDDS (low dose dexamethasone suppression) test results for us? Does your girl have any underlying illness that she is taking medication for? And if so, what is it and what is the medication? Besides the ones you mentioned, is she taking any supplements, medications or herbs? Was she diagnosed with pituitary or adrenal Cushing's? How much does your girl weigh? Does she have diluted urine?
I am sorry for all these questions but the more we know about Princess the better our guidance can be. Looking forward to hearing more about your sweet girl.
Hugs, Lori

Welcome to the forum! Sorry I don't have any answers for you. Others will be along who are more knowledgeable than me. If you could post test results, I know this will be helpful to them and that they'll help you get through this journey. You've come to the right place. Hugs!

Hi and welcome to you and Princess! Lori has asked all the initial questions -- the sooner you can provide the requested info to us, the better we can offer our guidance. I am curious what test your vet performed that would show Cushing's in part of the test but not in another part. In the U.S. the melatonin/lignans treatment is more typically reserved for dogs who have what is called "atypical Cushing's". This means that one or more hormones are elevated other than cortisol. After looking at all your test results, it may well be that it will be important to do additional testing to determine if Princess does have Cushing's. Many dogs have negative results on one test, such as the LDDS, but have positive findings on the ACTH and/or an ultrasound. The symptoms you are describing could point to Cushing's but they may also be the result of other conditions.
My beagle, Abbie, sends a big a-r-o-o-o to Princess!
