Hi! I'm pretty new here but your comment about Teddy being the heart of your family really touched me. It's just how we feel about our pup. You'll get great advice and support here. I know how scared and upset you are. Hopefully you'll get answers soon and your boy will be feeling better. Good luck! :)

Hi and welcome...I'm so sorry Teddy is having problems. It's so frightening when something changes and we don't know why. Try to relax. Let's see what the vet has to say. You most likely won't have a definitive answer today as there will probably need to be testing.
Others who are more knowledgeable than I am will be along to say hello. They will ask lots of questions and need any test results, so make sure you get them from your vet.
You are not alone....

Hi and welcome to you and Teddy!
I am so sorry your sweet boy is not acting his usual self and I promise you that we will help and support you in any way we can.
With our new members we ask a lot of questions, this is not because we are nosy, instead, it allows us to provide you with our best possible feedback. So here are some questions that I have ;)
Could you get copies of all tests that were done on your boy and post any abnormalities that are listed? With respect to the blood chemistry and complete blood count (CBC), you need only post the highs and lows and please include the normal reference ranges. Besides the increased drinking/urinating does your boy display any of these common Cushing's symptoms: a ravenous appetite, pot-bellied appearance, exercise intolerance, and difficulty or unable to go up steps or jump on furniture? Does your boy have any underlying illness that he is taking medication for? And if so, what is it and what is the medication? Is he taking any supplements, medications or herbs?
Teddy's symptoms are earmarks of a dog with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can change a dog's friendly demeanor and make them aggressive, it can cause increases in drinking/urinating, and create skin/hair issues. To test the thyroid's function your vet will draw a blood sample and send it out to a lab for analysis.
I am sorry for the circumstances that brought you here but sure glad you found us. And we surely understand how worried you are about your precious boy, so take some deep breaths and remember we will walk this journey with you.
Hugs, Lori

Sorry you are going through this. Our yellow lab Daisy was diagnosed with Cushing's about two months ago. I can definitely relate to the worry during this period of uncertainty. Hope you can get answers soon and get Teddy back on track with the appropriate treatments.
