My 12 year old LABBB mix was diagnosed with Cushings this week. Original symptoms were drinking too much and urinating frequently. After the 8 hour blood workup he has refused to eat and now drink much. He has become lethargic and has difficulty getting up but once up he is ok. I did not have an ultra sound done but have ordered the medication to treat him. Is this the part of the disease or is something else going on. This week I have spent 700.00. Not sure what to do next.

Hi and welcome to you and your boy!

I have manually approved your membership so now all your posts will be seen right away. Also, please just disregard the validation email that was sent to you from k9cushings.

I am sorry for the reasons that brought you here but sure glad you found us.

It would help us a great deal if you could share more information about your boy, in this way we can provide you with our best possible feedback and we get this information through a ton of questions so here goes some of mine. ;) Could you get copies of all tests that were done on your boy and post those values that are abnormal. With respect to the blood chemistry and complete blood count (CBC), you need only post the highs and lows and please include the normal reference ranges. Would you please post those LDDS (8 hour test) results for us? Does your boy have any underlying illness that he is taking medication for? And if so, what is it and what is the medication? Is he taking any supplements, medications or herbs? Was he diagnosed with pituitary or adrenal Cushing's? How much does your boy weigh? What medication for Cushing's is your boy going to be taking, also what is the dose?

Please know we are here to help in any way we can, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask them.

Hugs, Lori

Hi and welcome to you and your baby boy!

This is not a normal reaction to the LDDS - we see things like this with the ACTH but not usually with the LDDS (the 8 hour test). If I were you, I would have a vet see him this morning and check him out if he is not much better.

Let us know how he is doing when you can! And sharing all those test results Lori mentioned would be great!

Hugs,
