Phillip has a thick, soft sore on his elbow from laying on hard floors. I am currently using foam and vet-wrap but it does not stay on very well and does not give enough cushening. I am worried that eventually it will ulcerate and turn into a big problem.
I was wondering if anybody has every had the same problem and purchased DogLeggs (http://www.dogleggs.com/files/adjustable.cfm)and if you would recommend it.
It looks like a something that would work but it is always nice to get some feedback from someone who actually used it before spending quite a bit of $.
Thanks,
Nathalie

Never seen anything like that and they do seem expensive. I suppose if it works then it would be worth it.
Another thought......there are so many products for horse leg protection, knees, shins and the like so maybe it would also be worth having a look at the horse products to see it there is something that might work on a dog.

Hi Jenny,
Yes, unfortunatly they are a bit pricy and on top of that I would have to pay for shipping to Canada.
I too thought that a place that sells equipment for horses should have something that could be used, but I called a friend who works in a feed store and she could not come up with anything better then the foam and vet-wrap.
The vet-wrap works to an extend but is just not doable and will not give enouough protection in the longrun.
Well, I am not having the extra $ right now anyways with everything that is going on right now.
Thanks,
Nathalie

I was thinking of something like the link below. The first two products look like they would work and you get 4. The padding and the bandages look like they would be fairly sturdy and they are machine washable so can be reused again. I am always trying to do things cheaper and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.:o

I should have looked further down because it seems the bottom pics are of products that are padding and bandages all together.

Thanks for the link Jenny – this may work.
I am the same way – I usually try to find a less expensive way but like I said, I have not been very successful in finding a practical and doable solution for Phillip’s elbow.
When the vet showed me how she would wrap his leg it looked beautiful … for about 1/2h and then all that 'beauty' came sliding down below the elbow. :);):)
