Hi and welcome to you and your furbaby!

First, let me extend my condolences for the loss of your dear dog, losing them is so very hard and trust me we do understand and are here to help in any way we can, ok? I am sorry for the reasons that brought you here but am sure glad you found your way here.

We love details so if you could tell us more about your furbaby's health and diagnostic history that would be a great help to us in providing you with more meaningful feedback. So here goes some questions that I have.

Could you round up all copies of the testing that was done to diagnose your dog and post the results here. With respect to the blood chemistry and CBC, you need only post the highs and lows and please include the normal reference ranges. We are especially interested in seeing the results of all diagnostic tests that were performed on your furbaby for the Cushing's. Was an urinalysis done, and if so, could you post those findings too? Were other non-adrenal diseases ruled out? Is your furbaby taking any other herbs/supplements/medications? Does your furbaby have any underlying illnesses? How much does your furbaby weigh? Does your dog have the pituitary or adrenal form of Cushing's?

The two medications that are usually prescribed for Cushing's are Vetoryl/Trilostane and Lysodren/Mitotane, one is no safer than the other. These are strong drugs and both have some pretty scary side effects, however, adverse effects are minimized when the proper treatment protocols are followed. We have many members that are treating their cushdog with either Vetoryl/Trilostane or Lysodren/Mitotane and are experiencing success.

I realize that you may have some apprehensions in starting treatment but you are not alone and we will walk this journey with you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask them. ;)

Oh, here's a link to info regarding Trilostane/Vetoryl, it's in our Helpful Resource forum and you will find loads of information there.

Hugs, Lori

Welcome! Lori has definitely gotten you started. Here is the link that she referred to regarding Trilostane/Vetoryl:

My pup, Abbie, started out on Lysodren but we were not successful in controlling cortisol. She is now on Vetoryl and doing well. My vet is brand new to using Vetoryl so I rely heavily on the folks here for guidance as well as all the articles in the resource forum. I think that, the more you read, the more comfortable you will feel with treatment and it is great to have knowledgeable folks here to hand-hold along the way!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Did you get the results of the cushings test? If so what are they? is it cushings or no?

If so there are many of us who have used vetroyl/trilostane, and can let you know our experiences.
