Sweet Ginger, a blue Australian Cattle dog, my husband and I have been dealing with Cushing's for the past year and half. We took her off of all medication, Veteroyl and Proin, approximately 6-8 months ago. After a long discussion with our vet we decided the drugs weren't that effective. She seemed to "feel" better, more active and attentive, so we're confident we made the right choice for our girl.
What can we expect in the final stages of the disease? She's had difficulty with stairs for several months now, drinks excessively, urinates copious amounts, but she's still eating and wants to be in our company.
Our vet says we'll know when it's time. It isn't time yet, but if someone can tell us what to expect we can be better prepared.
