Hi there,
I have just joined the forum. We too have a very loved English Staffie who is 14 years old, and was diagnosed with cushings just over 2 months ago. She also suffers from farely advanced arthritis. She seemed to doing OK after starting her course of Vetoryl 60mg once a day. The panting has reduced, so has her excessive drinking & hunger, and her pot belly has gotten much smaller. She is now due for her next blood test, but is now showing signs of urinating problems, and has strange red lumps appearing on the top of her paws and on her face & head,
Any information from someone on when we will know if she has had enough of all this. We too have now spent about $2000 on tests, treatment & medicatin.

Hello and welcome to you and your girl! You will see that I have moved your post so as to create a thread that is your very own. This way, it will be easier for our members to reply to you directly.

I apologize that I have only a short time available to write at the moment, but here's some quick questions to start us off ;). Can you tell us how much your girl weighs, and has she been taking the 60 mg. since the start of treatment? Can you tell us more about her overall health history and also the testing that was done to diagnose her Cushing's? Do you have actual numbers for any monitoring ACTH tests that have been done since starting treatment? Last but not least, can you tell us what her current urination problems are?

I am not an expert on skin problems by any means, but I am definitely puzzled by the red bumps on the paws and head. There is a skin condition named Calcinosis Cutis that sometimes afflicts Cushpups, but it usually appears on the back and the torso. What you are describing sounds rather different. I would definitely want the vet to take a look at it.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any additional info, and once again, welcome!

Marianne

I just want to say hello and welcome you to the forum.
Marianne has got you off to a good start answer the questions she asked.

The red bumps don't sound like cushings, so that is a puzzle and perhaps a doggie dermatologist would have a better idea of what they are.

When you say urinating problems, do you mean she is having accidents now? but didn't prior to diagnosis?
