Hi. I'm new here. My girl Chloe was just diagnosed with Cusings...pituitary dependant. She's an 11 yo Miniature Schnauzer. She was tested a couple of years ago and to our surprise did not test positive. I knew at that point this might be a reality for us further down the road and here we are. I switched to a vet with twenty years of experience and am going to start her on Vetoryl next week. I'm glad to start treatment but am also very worried. Since she was tested a couple of years ago and recently I have had a lot of time to learn about this disease and treatments. I feel well informed but am still worried. It's nice to be here with others that understand what Chloe and I are going through. Feel free to share your stories and experiences with me as I will with you.

Hello and welcome to you and Chloe! Absolutely, we are all here to share stories and support. The path is much easier when it is walked alongside companions. :)

Right off the bat, though, you'll learn we are a nosy bunch ;). So if you could tell us more about Chloe's overall health history, that will be a big help to us. It sounds as though she was already exhibiting some worrisome symptoms two years ago -- can you describe what all has been going on throughout this time period?

That's great that you've found an experienced vet. We will certainly be wishing you well as you launch into treatment next week. One cautionary note: we'll be hoping that your vet will not be prescribing an initial dose of Vetoryl that exceeds a formula of 1 mg. per each pound of Chloe's weight. Initial dosing recommendations have lowered dramatically during the intervening decade since trilostane was first introduced as a veterinary treatment, and unfortunately the Vetoryl Product Insert does not clearly reflect even Dechra's most recent dosing revisions. We can give you more info about this if you need it.

OK, so we'll be watching for more info about Chloe as we all start off on this new journey together.
