Hello,
My dog Money Penny 12 was diagnosed with Cushings back in March and at the time didn't have many symptoms so we didn't do anything. They diagnosed her with Adrenal cushings after her blood work came back abnormal. We did an ultrasound and her right adrenal was enlarged and a urine test showed a high ratio of cortisol in her system. Within the last month she has started panting a lot more and she has started having trouble walking on her front paws. It started out in her front right paw and is now in both front paws. They are folding on her when she tries to walk and she falls over a lot. I was just wondering if anyone else that has a dog with Cushings has had problems with their dogs paw folding on them or trouble falling over?

Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome!

I have only a moment to post, sorry :( it sounds like your girl may have some form of a neurological problem and probably should be evaluated by your veterinarian and/or canine neurologist.

If you could get those test results and post them here that would be great.

Hugs, Lori

There are so many knowledgeable people here that will be along to help you soon. I'm new and still learning a lot so I don't have much to offer but I did want to say I love your dog's name :) My S.O. is a huge Bond fan and we went through every variation of Bong girl names for our dog but nothing fit her. Instead, she's named after a video game character.

Hi and welcome to you and Penny! :)

I am very concerned that there is more than Cushing's in play OR that she also has a cortisol secreting tumor on the pituitary that is growing into a macro, or very large, tumor. The pituitary tumor associated with Cushing's usually remains microscopic but some do grow, causing neurological problems. I am going to second, third and fourth the suggestion you get her to a neurologist if at all possible.

It would help a great deal if you would get copies of the testing done and post the actual results here. All the info on the reports, range, little letters, comments - are all important.

Are they positive the tumor on the adrenal is a cortisol secreting tumor and not a pheochromocytoma?

Is Penny on treatment? If so which drug, Lysodren or Vetoryl (Trilostane)? And what is the dose?

How much does she weigh?

What Cushing's signs were/are you seeing other than the oddity with the front legs?

Does she circle continuously?

Does she get stuck in corners or other places she normally could work her way out of with ease?

Does she bite at the air as if a bug were flying around her?

The more you can tell us about your sweet girl the better. The questions I asked are important so if you would please answer to the best of your ability. The answers will help us offer the most meaningful feedback.

I'm glad you found us and look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Hugs,
