Hi and welcome to our site.

Firstly the dosage you are giving can be too much of a starting dose for your Pepper. The manufacturer recommends starting at 1mg per pound (or 2.2 per kilo). Peppers breed should weigh about 70 - 85 pounds.

I would stop giving any more Vetoryl until Pepper stops having these current symptoms - all of which are indicators the cortisol levels have fallen low and this can be dangerous for Pepper. I would also contact my vet and have an ACTH test performed (which will register how low the cortisol levels have fallen) and I would also have the electrolytes checked.

When you can post the results of all the tests performed to come to the diagnosis of Cushing's.

Take a few minutes to read through this link - http://www.k9cushings.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185 --- contains current dosing information for Vetoryl.

Treating with the correct dosage regime has allowed many dogs here to live out their normal life span - it is also important to have a vet who is very familiar with Cushing's.

Keep us posted

Yes! Please stop giving the Vetoryl and get your baby to the vet or an ER right now if possible to have the cortisol and electrolytes checked. It sounds as if your baby is crashing meaning the cortisol has gone too low which is life-threatening. Let us hear from you as soon as you can to let us know how Pepper is doing. Do you have any pred?

oh my goodness. This does sound like too low of cortisol, due to over dosing.

You won't know for sure though until you can get an ACTH test but the recommended starting dose is 1mg/1lb. Anything more is a risky starting dose.

Please get an ACTH and electrolytes tested.

Let us know how she is doing!
