Hi my name is Kylie. I have a 13 year old staffy called Chardy who has cushings, she was diagnosed October 2013 and is an amazing, crazy (in a good way) and beautiful friend.

Í originally looked at this forum when she was diagnosed for information and thought I'd join as it was a good way to share information with others who are going through the same thing. We had a lot of ups and downs getting her meds correct initially but she stabilised after 6 months.

I'm due to get her cortisol levels tested this week and hope they are all good as she has been a little demanding for meal times lately, no extreme thirst symptoms as such so fingers crossed.

Hi Kylie,

Welcome to you and Chardy! Thanks so much for joining and starting a thread for your sweet girl. I am so glad to hear that Chardy is doing well on her Cushing's treatment, and I am sure this will bring much relief to our members that are on this Cushing's journey with their dog.

Would you share more of Chardy's treatment history with us? Such as her weight and what medication is she taking for the Cushing's? What dose was she was started on and what is her dose right now? Treating Cushing's sure can be a roller-coaster ride and I see that Chardy's treatment had its ups and downs, could you elaborate a bit more about that? What test/s were performed to diagnose her Cushing's? Also what symptoms was she displaying that led you or vet to test for Cushing's in the first place? Does she have the adrenal or pituitary form of Cushings? Could you round copies of her monitoring ACTH stimulation results and post them here?

Well I believe I have bombarded you with enough questions  and again, thanks so much for joining the forum and sharing Chardy's Cushing's journey with us.

Hugs, Lori

Kylie it is so great to hear about dogs being treated successfully, generally we post when something is wrong and we have concerns (human nature to do so) and we forget bout all those Cushpups that are doing so well :D Keep it up Chardy!!

Hello and welcome from me too.

It is not uncommon for an adjustment in medication to be needed a couple years into treatment, either up or down. We've seen this happen many times. Just a tweek may be all that is needed. Let us know how the test goes. :) We're so happy you decided to say hello :)
