Wow....there's a lot to read through on this site, so many stories.
I have a beautiful 10 yo male English Staffy, Pier Francesco or Frankie.
We had noticed late last year his belly was becoming quite 'bulbous'. He started drink massive amount of water and he seemed to be starving all the time, eating everything not nailed down. (Possum pooh seemed to be a favorite) And the excessive flatulence......wow. It was a real stinker to put it mildly.
We took him to the Vet for another issue, and while there told her about the above problems. She seemed to feel that he had Cushings as he had all the symptoms.
The long and the short of it, after testing, yes he does have Cushings and is now 3 weeks into taking Vetoryl. Since he started taking these tablets his excessive drinking has abated, the potbelly has decreased marginally and he seems to have more energy and is a lot brighter and happier in disposition. That's the good news........(well sort of)
He has now been diagnosed with CC. we are now waiting on the results of a biopsy to find the best medication. My poor baby looks like an armadillo from the top of his head to half way down his back. He is also breaking out in spots under his arms, under his chin and now around his groin. Even worse the 'scabs' have cracked where he has skin folds and now are weeping and oozing pus. (sorry folks if your eating).
So I now have a lot of reading to do and hopefully get a better insight into both these conditions.
Thanks in advance or any input anyone may have.
Cheers.
