Hi ladies and gents,
my fiance spur of the moment decided to foster a 5 year old, 7 lb, greyhound - Chihuahua (maybe) mix named Winnie.
Can someone please interpret her labs?
She hasn't eaten much, not drinking and hasn't pooped in three days. Minimal energy from the start.
The Meriden Humane Society didn't have much info on her because the person who manages their website quick and refuses to leave them the passwords so they can't even access their own files!

I looked at her labs and although a few levels are abnormal I'm really not sure what to make of it, I do know that on the blood panels some levels of a greyhounds reference ranges are different than other breeds of dogs.
Was an urinalysis done on Winnie?
I just did a google search and with greyhounds the articles say to test for Ehrlichiosis, as this tick-borne disease is common in that breed of dog.
Wish I could of been more of help.
Hugs, Lori

Hmmmm...I'm not sure, either. You probably already noticed this yourself, but she's right at the low end of normal for her thyroid level (T4). So maybe performing a complete thyroid panel would be useful. Also, her red blood cell levels (RBC, hematocrit, hemoglobin) are also at the basement of the norms, and anemia certainly saps energy. So maybe there is something going on there, as well. Did the vet who ordered this labwork have any thoughts as to what's going on, or is that what the rescue is unable to access by computer right now? Can you try to speak directly to the vet?

Since she's so small, I'm guessing that she's an Italian greyhound mixed with something else. They didn't crop her ears either so they're super long and stand straight up. It's cute:-)
Would the tick disease still apply?
Yes, Cushings came to mind but she's barely drinking at all and nowhere near ravenous.
Since he's fostering her, they told him to bring her in to see their vet. I passed on all of your suggestions and thank you.

Val, I am not seeing Cushing's here at all as there is nothing about her symptoms and very little about her labwork that is consistent. If anything worrisome is going on, I think it is something else and yes, doing a tickborne disease panel would probably be a good idea if it has not already been done on her.

I passed on the suggestions. Chris brings her back today and I'm not sure if they have an onsite vet or is Winnie will be there for a few days. I hope she doesn't think that he's abandoning her!

Winnie will get IV fluids until the vet sees her on Monday.
Dad has been in a rehab facility since before Thanksgiving following a series of hospital stays for pneumonia. Last night they sent him back to the hospital for pneumonia.
