Greetings group- Maxton the Mad is an 11 year old Australian Cattle Dog who we are 99.9% sure has Cushings. He's going in tomorrow for the DMeth Supression test, UC:CR test is done, we are just waiting for results. He's had all the symptoms for about 3 years now & getting worse. For the last 2 weeks, we've been getting up every 2 hours every night for a pee (with a couple of accidents when he couldn't wake us). Have been talking to our vet, will probably be doing Vetoryl.

The kicker is we lost our first ACD to an adrenal tumor from this about 12 years ago. Caught it too late for surgery & she was in a lot of pain. It's killing me to think of Max going the same way. Anyway, glad the forum is here for info & support - Thanks.

Welcome to you an Maxton the Mad (love that name). Just want to let you know that if it is Cushings then it is treatable. The meds are truly life savers and make their quality of life so much better - including for us doggy parents that finally get to have a good nights sleep :D I started off on the Vetoryl and then changed to the compounded version of Trilostane as it is much cheaper, the other drug that is used is Lysodrone. The trick is not make sure you start at a conservative dose and then tweak up as needed if he does have Cushings. Hopefully you and Max both make it through the testing stage without too much stress.

Laura, Bulger the brat (she has Cushings) and the Maggie-nator who eats like a dog with Cushings but doesn't actually have it hehe.

Hi and welcome to you and Maxton!

Sorry for the circumstances that brought you here but glad you found us.

Once you get copies of those test results could you post them here for us....Thanks! Is Max taking any other herbs/supplements/medications? Does Max have any other health issues? Also, how much does Max weigh?

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear girl, those darn adrenal tumors.

Any medical history of Max that you want to share would be great, we love details ;)

I'm including some links for you to read, feel free to print anything out: Trilostane/Vetoryl Information and Resources (http://www.k9cushings.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185)

Links to Cushings Websites (especially helpful for new members!) (http://www.k9cushings.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180)

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask them and remember we will help in any way we can.

Hugs, Lori

Thanks for the comments. He tested negative on the supression test but we are at the vet now bc he just tested positive for diabetes and is near ketosis. I'm still betting the Cushingsame test was a false negative and having it untreated for 3 or 4 years led to the diabetes. Learning more now.

Hello to you and Max. I'm sorry to hear he has diabetes. :( Hopefully that is all that you are dealing with and not Cushings too. I'm hoping also that you didn't get a false negative and once Max's diabetes has been treated his symptoms will clear up and you can get a good nite's sleep. Hugs to you and your sweet boy.
