I am so sorry Robert.:o:( Healing energy and prayers headed your way. Was it a rattlesnake? Is Chelle staying at the emergency hospital? Please keep us updated.
When is her luxating patella surgery scheduled?

Thanks Kathy. Not sure what type of snake-didn't see it happen and chelle didn't yelp - she just started vomiting and went weak. Here in Australia it is the start of the snake season and
the big problem is chelle is a very small dog 3.4kgs and snakes have a lot of venom. It doesn't sound promising but just have to wait and see. If chelle survives Luxating patella will have to be postponed till next Easter - very expensive to try and save her now. I'm just hoping and praying she will be annoying me next Easter after the op. I love this dog so much

Hi all and thank you for your good wishes and prayers. There is still a ways to go but it is much more positive this arvo. Chelle is tired but alert and seems not to be too ill. They need to keep fluids up to her for her kidneys but I'm now hopeful she will be ok .

Hi all chelle is bright eating chicken and entertains the vet nurses but her muscles are still throwing toxins into her bloodstream so she needs to stay on a drip so her kidneys are being flushed. This will cure itself but not sure how long. It is common in snakebite and I have been told not be concerned. Easy for them to say lol!!! She is one tough little babe and can't wait to get her home. Thanks again for all the prayers and support....you guys are amazing. Cheers

Oh my gosh Robert! I just saw the thread. Poor little Chelle, you must be scared to death for her.
It's so good to hear that she is alert, eating and responding. Those dang muscles. I hope the toxin gets out of her system completely very soon. Poor baby. Gads, I do not like snakes. :( horrid things.

Hi all chelle can come home in 24 hours. The vet just wants another day of fluids. Visited her and she got real excited . part from bloods still a bit high for liver and kidney function which is normal at this point all is peferct. She needs to go back in a week just to make sure kidneys are ok but that will hopefully be all good . Thank you all again

Chelle had her one week blood test after getting home and everything was good . Need to keep her quiet another 2 weeks which is impossible but all danger of immediate or long term effects has passed. Thank you again all for your support.
