Hi all
About 2 months ago my adorable cat was diagnosed with diabetes and now today we have found he also has cushings. - the vet had warned us that it's very hard to manage in cats as there is no research based on treating cats !
We want to give him the best chance of good quality life for as long as he is not in any pain ... They have ordered vetoryl tablets for us to start Monday and hope that they may help him.
I'd love to hear if anyone has any info that may help us ?

Hi and welcome to you and your boy! Cushing's is more prevalent in dogs than cats, I don't ever remember a member with a cat with Cushings, new territory here!

Since I cannot help you with feline Cushing's, I am including some links from Dr Peterson's blog, who is a world-renowned veterinarian that specializes in endocrinology:

Trilostane Treatment of Cats with Cushing's Disease (http://endocrinevet.blogspot.com/2013/10/trilostane-treatment-of-cats-with.html)

Q & A: Trilostane Treatment of a Cat with Cushing's Disease (http://endocrinevet.blogspot.com/2011/07/q-trilostane-treatment-of-cat-with.html)

Could you gather up copies of all tests that were done on your boy and post any abnormal values that are listed along with the reference ranges and units of measurement...e.g...ALT 150U/L (5-50)...thanks! Also could you post the results of any tests that were used to diagnose his Cushing's? What symptoms did your boy display that led you or your vet to test for Cushing's in the first place?

Please know we will help in any way we can so do not hesitate to ask all the questions you want. ;)

Hugs, Lori

I just wanted to say hello to you and your kitty and welcome! You have come to the right place. The folks in this forum have years of experience and although yours will be the first cat, they will work diligently to help you give your baby the best care possible. I have had cats most of my life, so I immediately recognize some of the challenges you may have. Pilling a cat is an ordeal in itself. What is your boy's name?

Again, welcome and I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi and welcome. I see Lori already gave you the links I was going to so hopefully you have done some reading on Dr. Peterson's blog.

I am glad you found your way here. You know, horses get Cushings as well, so we welcome anyone.
