My Vizsla has had symptoms of Cushing’s since at least 2009. At first I didn’t want to believe anything was wrong. Finally in 2012 I did a lot of reading and research for alternative treatments. I found Si Miao Wan tea pills work very well. As symptoms arise, we have added other supplements.7-HMR lignans, melatonin, milk thistle and Sam-E. If anyone want more details I’d be happy to share. She will be 15 yo in September, lost lots of weight and mostly grey but happy and energetic between naps.

Hello and welcome! I noticed you had posted this new first reply on another member's thread, so I have taken the liberty of copying it so as to create a new thread that is your very own. This way, it will be easier for other members to write to you directly with any questions or comments. ;)

Hi and welcome,
Si Miao Wan can have several formulas. Can you tell us what the ingredients and formula (proportions) are for the one you have been using?
HMR, or Spruce, lignans and melatonin is one combination recommended by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville for the treatment of one form of Cushing's called Atypical in which cortisol is NORMAL but one or more of five intermediate, or sex, hormones is elevated. Those five intermediate hormones are Estradiol, Androstenedione, 17-Hydroxyprogesterone, Progesterone and Aldosterone. The other combination is flax lignans, or SDG lignans, and melatonin.
What signs were you seeing in your baby that indicated Cushing's? What tests were done to diagnose the disease? Would you mind posting the actual results of those tests here? Did she have testing done through UTK for the intermediate hormones? (As far as I recall, that is the only place doing such testing.)
It's great to hear that your sweet girl is doing so well! I'm glad you found us and look forward to hearing more about the both of you.
Hugs,
Leslie and the gang
