Hope you and Ian are doing well today. It is absolutely frigid outside today and is to get worse next week. This is so hard on the dogs with arthritis. Hope Ian is holding his own, and that you are still enjoying good weather. Tipper did not have a good nite last nite. I am worried about her. She has gone down hill lately and I am scared for her. I need to order more Vetoryl for her and will really be scrapping by this month by the skin of my teeth. I wish there was more help for these dogs financially. Blessings

hi patti, ian is still on a low dose of anti inflammary/painkillers. he is feeling much better now. weather is still like "'spring"'overhere.
i can understand so well that you are frightened for tipper. the disease and also ageing and above that all the money which you need to pay for those vet bills. i have a pile of them myself now.
in my country there are several companies who offer pet health insurances. but mine were very healthy till they got cushings at 10 and 12 years of age. did not see a vet for years.
i don't know if you can insure your pets in the usa?

We do have pet insurance here, but it is very costly and has stipulations about pre-existing conditions, so it would be impossible to get now. The pet insurance I had a long time ago for my other dog, excluded practically everything so it was not cost efficient to keep it. I am sure it has improved by now. Is yours expensive over there? I am so glad Ian is feeling a bit better. That is always encouraging. The wind is just howling here and the temperature is about 14 now. Tuesday is to be the worst and I must take Tipper to the vets that morning so I will bundle her up. Blessings

yes patti, it is exactly the same overhere with those pet insurances. they exclude a lot of things. i never had one because of this.
do you dare to drive in such a bad weather? are the roads kept free from snow and ice? is it a long ride?
hope you and tipper will do fine and the test results will be ok.

We have to travel about 20 miles to get there. I will just make sure we go slow and have enough time to make the trip. Tipper will be real unhappy as she wants her food as soon as she gets up and she has to be fasted. So I will have her crying and upset for the whole drive. It has to be done so I will take her food in the car with me and give it to her as soon as she is done in the vets. I feel bad because I know what it is like to be hungry, but 24/7 must be awful. Blessings

i recognise it; cushingdogs are always hungry. it did not stop with the use of vetoryl. the peeing indoors stopped, but the begging for food stayed.
does she have to be fasted because she has to be sedated?
glad that she can eat afterwards in the car.
hope the test results will be fine. have a safe ride.
