If you see your spouse more than your vet, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you haven't put at least two of your vet's children thru college, you've never had a Cush dog.

If every receptionist in your vets office doesn't know you by voice, you've never had a Cush dog.

If the receptionists in your vet's office do not prepare copies of everything automatically for you, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you haven't picked up dog poop with your bare hands to examine it, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you haven't stayed up many nights with a dog who can not settle, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you take more meds than your dog, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you dog tinkles delicately a few times a day, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you have time after work to run a few errands, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you have a life separate from your dog, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you haven't snuck up behind your dog to get a urine sample, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you haven't sat up all night worrying and crying over your dog, you've never had a Cush dog.

If you spend more time on Facebook than you do on this forum, you've never had a Cush dog.

If your dog is not the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you think about at night, you've never had a Cush dog.

None of us would EVER choose to have a Cush dog. However having one makes us more loving, caring and compassionate human beings. :p:p:p:p

I don't have a cush pup but I ticked off 10 on your list :D:D:D so it must go for adrenal pups as well :D:D

Totally true, every bit of it!! Okay, I'm not picking up poop with a bare hand, but a plastic baggie and straight into the fridge till it goes to the vet, Definitely. :)

Oh my gosh.... I have ticked off every one of these... brought a little tear to my eyes... and I can't believe I would ever say this but... I miss every single one of those days and never regretted a single one........ It's hard for many that never had a cush dog, the feeling that you hold a very precious life in your very hands every minute of every day...

You said it! And how I feel for those who do not understand each and every one of these statements - so much they are missing out on!

What I find interesting is how people cope. Put that list in front of most people and they would run a mile, yet when it actually happens your love for your pup gives you the strength to do whatever it takes.

Thats so funny! I did get a funny "over the shoulder" look when swooping under a squatted Lucy with a plastic tray to catch a urine sample. Thanks for the giggle today.

You said it all. If Apollo and I had not fought so hard I would not have had those 3 more precious years. I would not give them up for anything. This forum gave us the strength, hope, support, love and faith to not give up.
If you have not felt such a lose, love, emptiness, and an ache so deep in your heart ,you have never had a cushing dog. to all the cushing babies here and gone we love you so much. The courage, strength, love you have shown us is more than many humans could endure, the needles, the X-rays,ultrasounds,infections,medications that made you sick at times, the constant vet visits. I wish I was still fighting with you Apollo. Sept.9,2012.
Thank you for this posting.
hugs Sonja and Angel Apollo

That was wonderful - thank you. No one else but would understand what it is like to have a Cush dog.... and yes I too miss all of that and would do it again to have my Casey back with me.

Wanted to add that if you are always on red alert with your other dogs and listening to water drinking all the time and which dog is drinking how much you have never had a cush dog.
