Hello I am new here. My 8 year old miniature pincher has been diagnosed with Cushings. My very does not seem to have any real knowledge on this.Y ess I am switching Vets. A lot of info I am getting is what I have found myself. Is Wellness grain free or Wildness high protein grain free a good canned food choice?

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. I fed the wellness dry to my dogs a number of years. It is good quality food. If your dog has cushings, a lower fat food is best as they can be prone to pancreatis. The wellness senior line (dry) is 10%fat I believe.
Could you tell us what tests have been done on your dog, and post any abnormalities from bloodwork-any highs or lows, as well as the reference range.
Has your dog started on medication for cushings? If so, what kind, how much, and what does your dog weigh?
This is a great forum, with lots of helpful caring people, and information. You could read for days with all there is to learn on here.

My vet called yesterday. Now I am very confused .. He said nothing on her tests have confermed it. But he suspects she has it. All her tests came back negative or normal. Looking at the paperwork she had Total body fuction (Antech). He did say herAlkaline Phosphate was 22400. These are her symptions
Drinking alot of water
Skin infection
Ear infection
Urination of the floor
Loss of eye site
He wants to run a stress test and more tests. But I am taking her to another vet that actually has cushing patients.
Does this sound like cushing to you?
What really makes me angry is the Alkaline test was done a month ago and nothing was ever said about the results until now? I live around Joliet Il if maybe anyone might know of a vet that has more experience with cushings I would be greatfull

No meds yet. She has the round belly also. Her hair fell out in patches on her stomach and side. There was like dark skin patch present. The vet gave her antibodics for this and it helped.

Some of these symptoms can be associated with Cushing's or with other non-adrenal illnesses such as a thyroid problem or diabetes, have these two health issues been ruled out?
Please do not hesitate to ask all the questions you want, ok?
Love and hugs, Lori

Yes the vet did state lupis and diabetics were out. Is blindess associated with Cushings?

With an Alkp that high I would have it rechecked and if it is affordable to you have an ultrasound done. Blindness isn't the usual Cush symptom but could be for SARDS. Are we talking full sudden blindness or a gradual loss of sight? Might want to have the eyes looked out. If both LDDS and ACTH are negative then it is unlikely to be cushings.
