Family…. What constitutes family?
Normally it's the ones that you are related to by birth, whether you like them or not. The ones you are stuck with! We have a different kind of family here. One that we have chosen. Brought together out of fear, desperation, and a need to know more. At least, that's the way it was for me. I knew nothing about Cushing's until Buddy started showing neural symptoms. People from all over the world brought together by a common bond, a deep love for their fur babies. In this family, no one cares what anyone looks like. No one cares what each other does for a living, or even works at all. No one cares about trivial details such as that. People come, get help and then somehow, just seem to stick around. They stick around because they love this family. They stick around because they have been helped and now want to try to help others, sharing what they learned along their journey. I don't know when it happens, but along the way, these helping people sprout wings and turn into walking angels on earth. They are dressed as regular folk, but that is just a disguise. Some are just beginning to sprout little nubs, while the majority are fully feathered. Then there are some like me, who are special-needs angels. The wings are there, but they're a little crooked. There are feathers on some parts but not others, yet we are all family. All family that we've chosen. I am honored to be member of such a loving and caring flock of angels. Thank you all for what you do everyday and for caring so much about others and their fur babies. Huge hugs,
