Hi!
Just wondering if anyone uses herbs/supplements like: parsley, milk thistle, and fish oil capsules?

Hi and welcome,
Yes, there are many that are using natural supplements. Are you asking about a dog with cushing's? or just in general?

I used fish oil for the heart, milk thistle for the liver enzymes but I treated my Haley with lysodren for 4 1/2 years. She lived a great life and passed at the age of 16 1/2 not related to cushings. If you are looking for a natural cushing's remedy we haven't found one yet. If there was one there would be no need for this forum and that would be great because we could chat about healthy dogs instead of sick ones. :( Kim

That would be great to just have conversations about our healthy fur-babies and their crazy antics. I use Omega3 and vitamins and brewers yeast but not really herbs. I asked my Vet what he would recommend for boasting the immune system, he didn't have any recommendations. :(:(:( But I am always open for anything natural that will help my lil guy.

My Molly hasn't gotten a diagnosis of cushings yet. Her liver enzymes though are up and I've been giving Hepato Support by Rx Vitamins since 08/20/2012 and her ALP has started to come down. Albumin is back to normal, ALT is still bouncing around. So it appears to be helping. She is also on glucosomine for her joints.

I gave Hamish milk thistle to help his liver plus a glucosamine / chrondroitin supplement for his joints / arthritis, and pumpkin for his sensitive tummy.

We also tried acupuncture for his arthritis - the first session really helped, however the second was a disaster as he was very lively so I ended up wearing the needles!

Hello and welcome to from me too:) You have come to the right place! There are many K9Cushing's angels standing by to help and stay with you every step of the way. They love details, test results, any information you can get your hands on. Supplements do help and many of us use them, but they do not take the place of medication. If there was some magic over-the-counter supplement that did that, we would all be using it! Are you asking out of curiosity, or do you have a fur baby that needs our help.

Hugs,
Kathy

Ty:
I have used these supplements since my dog was diagnosed in August 2012. I think they help a lot, and I am all for natural supplements. My vet uses a lot of them and says they are less harmful than traditional methods. Blessings
