Pumphrey was panting really heavily a few months ago so I decided to use a #30 blade and shave her down only leaving her head, legs and tail unshaven. She stopped panting right away and until recently, was much better. Same today, she had been panting so I shaved her again. I don't know if this is just coincidence but wanted to pass it on to others that shaving might help with panting. I also take a squirt bottle and spray her chest to help cool her down.

Yes Maria,
Shaving them down does help them feel more comfortable. I always give Buddy a good buzz when he starts panting heavily. It always helps! Spraying tummies and paws with a water bottle, also helps cool them down.

So glad to hear that the shaving has helped Pumphrey. My non-cush dog, Bear, has fur that has like a downy undercoat and his fur is black which in the summer makes him hot. I, also, have him shaved down and his belly is shaved really close and it does seem to help him too.
