Shotzie, our 15 1/2 pound miniature schnauzer was given her Soloxine tonight (.1mg) then she grabbed our other dog, Max, his Soloxine (.2mg). Our vet is out of town so I can't call him. Will she be OK? This has never happened before.

I believe she will be ok, especially since this is a one-time thing; however she may start to exhibit symptoms of hyperthyroidism such as increased appetite, excessive thirst/drinking, irritable, restless and hyperactive, and/or diarrhea.
Let us know how Shotzie is doing.

Thanks for the response. I called and talked to a vet at an emergency clinic. She said not to give her any Soloxine tomorrow & call our vet Monday. She isn't acting hyper but seems a little more alert for this time of night.

I have a terrible memory and have on more than one occasion taking double meds, forgetting I had already dosed myself. The first time I took a double dose of my thyroid med, I FREAKED! I just knew I had killed myself. :o:rolleyes: I flew to the ER and they laughed at me! :o I didn't find 250mg of Levothyroxin funny, but they sure did. :D
I was told the same thing - skip the next day's dose then get back on schedule. I get rather hyper when I do this (I've done it four times!), very thirsty, pee buckets, and eat like a pig. :p
Odds are, Shotzie will be just fine but keep in touch and let us know how she is, ok?
Hugs,
Leslie
