Awwww, Valerie, this is a suck mess. Why if they thought that your dad needed someone to take care of his finances, wouldn't they determine that you his relative who with and takes care of him, isn't the best person anyhow. That is so frustrating.
I hope the powder helps Daisy, she sure has had a rough road and so have you.

Thanks everyone. I didn't feed her last night or this morning. Boiled chicken tonight which so far is staying with her.

As far as the VA goes, they often appoint someone other than a family member and in many cases the veteran gets scammed. I asked his oncologist and the social worker to write letters for me stating his competence since they see him at least every two months. Hopefully that will be enough proof.

Oh Valerie,
You are on my mind this evening. No!!!!!! Daisy would not be better off with someone else! She is with her mom that loves her. That's exactly where she wants to be. :) We all do the best we can, with the resources we have, at any given time. There are treatments that could help Buddy, but they aren't going to happen because I can't afford them. A lot of us struggle with the cost of treating this horrible disease. Know that you are not alone in this and we do understand. Daisy is blessed to have you Valerie. Do not ever think otherwise.
I do hope your dad's benefits get sorted out soon. That is no way to treat our veterans. Give Daisy an extra cuddle tonight for me. :)

Hugs,
Kathy

Kathy, giving Daisy to someone else would be a last resort. I was seriously freaking out the other day and literally couldn't handle another negative thing happening.

I'll feel much better with dad sorted out and praying that the Tylan powder does wonders for Daisy.

You know how you feel when everything is going wrong and then you get kicked when you're down.

Valerie:
It sounds like you are getting back up there! You still have fight left in you girl, so go get em! I am hoping this Tylan does it with Daisy. Her poor little butt must be sore from all this. Can Daisy tolerate potato/ I know when my parrot was sick from cancer, and had the runs the vet would tell me to give her cooked potato, as it must act like a sponge in the intestines. Worth a try if nothing else helps. Blessings

Three meals of boiled chicken, fortiflora, and the Tylan for the first time tonight. No poops since this morning and so far NO accidents in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Once I determine that the Tylan powder has resolved things I will begin at the beginning with the Trilo again.

Hoping that we have it right this time! I'm now sure that she has IBD which the Trilo aggravated considerably.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Hope the tummy is right with the meds, poor wee Daisy I bet she was mortified having those accidents. I feel for her embarrasment :(. Hi Val
Just getting caught up on your thread and glad to hear Daisy is improving.Wish for many good days ahead-you two have been thru enough!

I read about your dad awhile back and didn't see any followup but may have missed it.To have a person deemed incompetent is very very difficult to do nowadays. It used to be done years ago very easily but with more patient advocacy and awareness of patient's rights,it is very difficult to legally determine someone incompetent. If your father is alert and oriented,I can't imagine why they would even consider this.Anyhow, just thought I would check in and see how things were going.

So far, so good everyone!
Trying to get letters to prove that dad is competent to send to the VA. This is apparently standard practice when anyone is receiving a large sum of money from them. They hire someone else (other than the family members who have been standing by the veteran all along in many cases) and that person can run wild with the money.

After that happens, the family seeks restitution IF they can afford a lawyer. It's a very broken system from what I am reading.

Valerie, Rear leg weakness is usually one of the last Cushing's symptoms to improve, or so I have read. Yes exercise can build muscle mass or at least help keep what they have left. It doesn't apply in Buddy's case though. A lot of his leg problems are neurological due to his macro symptoms. Exercise isn't going to fix that.:(
Hugs,
Kathy

doxiesrock912
06-21-2013, 12:35 AM
Kathy and Patti,

she was doing better with the leg weakness with the higher dosage of Trilo. Since her stomach is holding its own, I've gone back up to 7.5mg twice a day and if she stays improved, then I'll try the original recommendation of 10mg twice a day.

If she's greatly improved on the 7.5mg though, I'll stay with that dosage.

She was off Trilo for almost a week when the diarrhea was so bad and she regained her pot belly which isn't helping. She looks like a black and tan mini hippo. Poor thing.

The heat bothers her but we did play a bit inside tonight.

Wow - I started reading your thread and some of it sounds so familiar. Pia got so darned sick when we had to change her food - darn the manufacturer for discontinuing her food! We've gone through the pot belly, the being super sick, the hugely bloated belly (my Pia sometimes looks like she swallowed a football sideways), and the scrawny hind legs. It's too bad we can't get Daisy Mae and Pia together to play and build up their leg muscles again.

The other things going on in your life are much more than I've been going through. I wish you and your family all the luck in the world. Dealing with the VA is a complete grind. I haven't done it my self, but I've had friends who have felt like they were just bashing their heads into a brick wall dealing with the VA.

I sure hope Daisy Mae's bowel movements stay firm. Cleaning up those accidents is not fun at all. Pia had the runs a few days ago and I was so worried that it was from the trilostane, which we just started last week, but then our little Boston Terrier had the runs, too, so I guess they both had "something".

I need to look into Tylan powder. That's new to me, but I like to be prepared. Our local vet sort of needs to be lead by the nose. Thankfully, I have UC Davis for the Cushings, but I still need to use our local bonehead for some things.

Pia sends puppy kisses, and I'm sending hugs to both of you.

doxiesrock912
06-21-2013, 11:00 PM
Local "bonehead". Ha ha ha hahaaa! I love it:)

I found the Tylan powder on Amazon.com and I didn't need to send in the script from the vet! The vet wanted to charge $25 more and I told them to keep it for some other putz.

I've learned my lesson about price checking for meds now.

I think that Daisy's tummy poof is starting to come down! Her fur is gaining back its shine!!!!!! Whooo hooooo! Happy dance.

Now that we have things under control, I hope to see decline in her symptoms again.

Sharlene, Tylan powder is also used to treat IBD and IBS in dogs. Since the improvement was literally instant, I am suspecting IBD over the bacterial infection.

Either way, it's working and that is all that matters :)

Get this!!!!

Daisy is currently taking 7.5mg of Trilo twice a day and I am seeing a decline in her symptoms along with her pot belly!

Should I increase to 10mg or wait until her next IMS appt? I'm thinking of waiting as to not risk having problems again with the higher dose :)

Happy mommy :)

Also, I persuaded dad's primary care doc and his social worker to write letters addressing his competency for me and all has been mailed to the VA! Praying that this avoids a hearing and an appointment of a fiduciary and that we finally get paid for the past year of waiting etc.

Crossing my fingers.

Letti,
the proper name for Tylan powder is Tylosin. It is a very fine yellow powder that I sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon that I sprinkle onto Daisy's food morning and night. The IMS described it as a low level natural antibiotic.

It doesn't taste the best so I sprinkle this one first and then the 1/2 packet of Fortiflora directly on top of that. Daisy eats it all.

molly muffin
06-24-2013, 06:36 PM
That is wonderful news Valerie. I wouldn't increase it yet. Actually I was thinking that it could be that now that the tylan powder has helped her out, that her post ACTH number could come down. Anything bothering them can cause the cortisol to be higher, so maybe now she can really settle in and see if the trilostane will act as it should. Lets see whats what on the next visit.

I don't want to rock the boat but technically, this cancels one of them out if you give an antibiotic at the exact same time as a probiotic. Unless Forti Flora is a different kind of probiotic, you really should wait two hours or more. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria in the gut, probiotics replace the good bacteria, it is counter productive technically.:o:o

My father and I went to the mall tonight on a quest for light weight Dockers for him:)

So far, I have been doing really well with being positive about Daisy having Cushings. We happened to see a pet store and he couldn't resist going in. Of course, I followed. We played with 2 BEAUTIFUL dapple doxies and all was fine. We wanted to bring them home but I felt that it wouldn't be fair to Daisy and that two cats were enough for her to live with.

Imagine my surprise when I barely made it out of the store with tears running down my cheeks! Memories of Daisy as a healthy pup were flooding my mind and the comparison of her now was hitting me hard. Couple that with my knowledge that the puppies in these places almost always come from puppy mills and I was a complete mess. I so wanted to "rescue" those two babies tonight!

I think that dad wanted to as well because he mentioned it later on.

I feel so heartbroken for Daisy Mae. No dog deserves this disease and I can't understand why most vets aren't more knowledgeable considering how prevalent it is:(

Hoping that everyone is having a peaceful night.

Awww Valerie. Big hugs to you. I wish all the furbabies here would be healthy and happy forever.

It would be great if all vets understood cushings, how it works together with the rest of the body and the best drugs to use and the testing protocols. For some reason though they just don't seem to all get it. It is really only a few that have further studied cushings and you'll usually find it is the ones who try to stay up with the latest News (not latest manufacturer of drugs news, but actual vet news) and attend conferences, read the studies, that do the best.

It is so HARD to walk out and not take every puppy and kitten home when you go into those pet stores.

Daisy is on the bad list tonight. She showed her teeth at me when I tried to take her outside before bed time. I am not happy and will be surprised if I don't find a mess in the morning. Her poops are still normal but she seems to be super sluggish today and I'm attributing this to the humidity.

I tried bribing Daisy with a treat but it didn't work. I'm hoping that it's just the heat and she's tired. We'll see what happens in the morning.

Hoping that everyone is sleeping soundly.

Valerie:
Tipper does the same thing at times. I think with all the changes going on inside of them sometimes they would rather not get up and walk around. I think when Tipper does this she is feeling uncomfortable, and just wants to lay there and not be bothered. She growled at me a few times when I attempted to move her to stand up and go out. As crazy as this sounds I try to surprise her and start talking real loudly and saying" lets go outside I think there is a bunny in the yard." She always wants to go after bunnies. She gets startled and kind of jumps up. Then I throw a treat a few feet away where she can see it. When she goes for it, I get the harness on her and take her out. See if you can catch her off guard and try getting her all excited. I have to make sure when a storm is coming at night that I get her out before as she will not go out after it starts, and she holds it which is really bad. She never ever goes in the house, although that would be better for her body if she did. She would hold it for 24 hours if it is storming, but I don't let her. I have to force her to go out and go, and I have to watch ,as she is so scared she would bite me. Hope all is well with her today. How is your dad doing? Blessings

Hey Valerie,

Sorry to hear that you are yet to get Daisy stabilized on a consistent dose of her trilostane. :(

I was checking back in your thread, and don't think I've seen any monitoring ACTH results since the single test performed at the end of April. At that time, I think Daisy was taking 5 mg. twice daily, and unfortunately her cortisol was totally uncontrolled with a post-ACTH result of 35 ug/dl. Her dosing since then has been very sporadic, so perhaps that's why another ACTH has not yet been done?

I know you've been assuming that it is the trilostane that is causing her loose stools. But I'm gonna throw a different thought out for your consideration. I wonder whether they could possibly be caused by her ongoing elevated cortisol. Since steroids normally have an anti-inflammatory action, I know it's paradoxical to think that high cortisol could be causing intestinal problems rather than helping them. But my IMS told me that he had seen cases of bowel irritation that seemed to be associated with ongoing uncontrolled cortisol levels. With the low and inconsistent doses of trilo that Daisy has been receiving, it seems unlikely that her cortisol level has been reduced significantly since the time of diagnosis. Maybe you might bite the bullet and try giving her an uninterrupted and genuinely therapeutic dose of trilo for a while, regardless of the loose stools?

However, if you feel certain that it really is the trilo itself that is causing the intestinal problems (in other words, if she always clears up when the trilo is halted), maybe you and Dr. Morgan might consider shifting her to Lysodren? Because unless an ACTH shows otherwise, it doesn't seem likely that Daisy is getting any genuine systemic benefit from her current trilo dosing, and there seems little gain from intermittently giving her a low dose of the medication if all it does is upset her GI tract.

Sorry Daisy is yet to get straightened out on the Trilostane. Tipper has had her pot belly since the inception of this disease, and it has never gone away. I think I have seen others on hear say their dogs have gone away. I was under the impression once they had the pot belly it was not going away, so I am curious why Tipper's never went down. Hope Daisy gets straightened out, especially so the runs don't come back. Blessings

Hi Valerie,

Are you still using the Tylan?

Sorry to hear about Daisy but Marianne might have a good point since Daisy was having trouble with loose stools prior to the Trilostane.

There is some thought that higher cortisol levels may cause continuing bacterial infections which allows inflammatory bowel disease. If Daisy Mae 's loose stools seem to respond to antibiotics, it may be that is the case and that the Trilostane has nothing to do with it. In Zoe's case, she has antibiotic responsive inflammatory bowel disease. IBD can only be diagnosed with certainty through endoscopy with biopsy. We had problems when we started Trilostane and each dose change in the early days was a problem but Zoe got through it by going low and slow. Every dog is different but it might be something to think about.;):)

Ladies,
Daisy has been on the Tylan powder without stopping since I got it for her. Dr. Morgan also thinks that it is the Trilo and you are correct Marianne as to why we haven't done another ACTH test.

If she continues to do well on the 7.5mg twice a day, we will do one soon. So far, her pot belly has returned but the excessive eating and drinking are once again under control.

Ladies,
Daisy continues to do well on the 7.5mg twice a day. I suspect that part of her earlier problems were exasperated by whatever the infection was that she had because the Tylan is really doing the trick and so far, there are no signs that the current dosage of Trilo is bothering her. YEAH!!!!! Finally, maybe?

Daisy's only complaint about the rain is that she's not thrilled to go outside in it. Otherwise, she's never been afraid but will occasionally pop her head up if there is a loud clap of thunder. We're so lucky to not have experienced this kind of fear. It sounds terrible for everyone.

Dad's VA benefits are coming in, but we're waiting for the back pay, almost a years worth. His doctor and social worker wrote letters stating that he is competent enough to handle his affairs. Now we wait for the VA's response to that.

Good news, I hope the Tylan keeps working for Daisy Mae. You may need to keep her on it daily while lowering her cortisol. Perhaps then you wont have to start and stop and can finally bring her numbers down.

I'm so glad that Daisy is doing well. That infection really did a number on her and I wonder if that has something to do with why her post number continued to be high on the ACTH test. Hoping the Tylan continues to work and can get rid of that.
Would be nice to get the backpay from the VA. Hope that is all worked out soon.

Hi Valerie,

I wanted to comment on a comment you made on another thread concerning Lysodren losing effect over the night. Just some info for your further education. ;)

Lysodren does not wear off over the night like Trilostane (Vetoryl) can. Lysodren is just reaching its peak 48 hours after the dose. The two drugs work very differently. Trilo goes to work fast and leaves fast while Lyso takes time to reach the objective and stays in the body much longer. Trilo requires daily dosing, Lyso does not once the objective has been reached. Both do the same job - just differently, both have the same risks and adverse effects, both are life savers.

Hope this helps.

Marianne,

sometimes. as in Daisy's case. The right dose of Trilo needed to completely alleviate her Cushings symptoms is too much for her to handle. So, the numbers will not be textbook perfect but close enough.

Dr. Morgan said that her quality of life is more important than having what they consider to be ideal numbers.
Hi Val,

I saw that you had posted this reply directed to me on another member's thread, and I want to respond to you but thought it better to do so on your own thread so that we can continue the conversation here.

I do understand that optimal trilo dosing will vary from dog to dog depending upon their own individual set of circumstances, and that you are shooting for a combination of good lab results, symptom resolution, and animal comfort.

However, at the time of Daisy's only monitoring ACTH in April, not only were her results less than ideal -- they were absolutely uncontrolled (post-ACTH of 35 ug/dl). This would be a high result even for a dog that was not taking any medication whatsoever. With a cortisol level that high, it is hard to imagine that any of the chronic systemic dangers associated with Cushing's were being lessened. At that time, you were dosing Daisy at 5 mg. twice daily. Since that time, I think you've bounced between 5 - 7.5 mg. twice daily, with periods of time when she's received no trilostane at all. If you consistently remain on the 7.5 mg. for awhile, hopefully you will see improvement in Daisy's cortisol control on the next test.

I surely do understand that a vet will not choose to press for low numbers on an ACTH test at the expense of the overall comfort and well-being of the dog. But I admit to finding it puzzling that Dr. Morgan seems to be content to permit Daisy to proceed with cortisol levels that may remain absolutely and totally uncontrolled, especially since it now appears as though her diarrhea has been the result of an infection rather than a side effect of a more optimal dose of trilostane.

I really, really hope that you can leave Daisy on a consistent dose of trilo from now on, and that the next ACTH test will show some improvement in her numbers. No, numbers are not everything. But if you are not lowering the cortisol into a range that would offer the potential for genuine benefit, there is no reason to be giving the medication at all. I do have to wonder whether some of the external signs by which you are judging Daisy's progress are really accurate. For instance, you note changes in her belly and coat within a matter of a day or two of starting or stopping dosing. Those are two effects of Cushing's that typically take weeks (even months) to resolve, even when cortisol levels are indeed at an optimal level.

Of course, the bottom line is that if you and Dr. Morgan are satisfied with Daisy's condition and progress, my own thoughts and speculation make no difference. But I did want to respond to your reply by telling you why Daisy's cortisol control (or lack of cortisol control) has been a concern to me.

Hi Valerie
We found out he had some mild anaemia earlier in the year, his physician ordered an ultrasound that showed a small renal tumour and an aortic aneurysm. Both do not need surgery at this stage, but we need to rescan in 6 mths to check they are not growing. He had a small stroke after a hip replacement 3 years ago, he recovered fully from that so everyone is hesitant to proceed with surgery if we can get away with it.

But the physician did not think either of those two conditions were responsible for the anaemia so referred to gastroenterologist who did a gastroscopy and colonoscopy on Tuesday. He found polyps, about 20 of them! Removed about half of them and Dad has to go back in 6 weeks to get the rest out. I was very impressed with their reporting, Dad got a letter in the mail yesterday only 4 days postop to tell him they have all come back non malignant!!

He is 81 next month, still pretty fit and walks Flynn about 3km every day so we told them he has to do well!! So yay, we were celebrating as had been half expecting something nasty as he had lost a few kilo's and a few bowel changes! So that was his good news :) Thanks for asking and fingers crossed your Dad has good scan results again!

This has been a VERY trying past two years, that's for sure.
Now I need a JOB.

Dad's new doc keeps insisting that we come in for earlier appointments which will put us right in the midst of rush hour traffic and this drive is long enough without that mess and dad has a bad back, hip, and knees. Less sitting in a car is much better for him.
Dad 's previous doctor was GREAT! He accommodated whatever we needed and we're dealing with the same place so I don't see why things are so difficult now.

I'm pushing back because there is no reason why we can't come in two hours later. I think he prefers to schedule existing patients in the morning and new later in the day. Well, he's going to have to make an exception. Seriously!!!

I think this is ridiculous, it's not like I'm asking him to come in on his day off.

Honestly, he doesn't even do anything other than listen to dad's lungs, ask a few questions, and look at the scans which are done just before the appointment. He needs no special equipment so the only change would be to his schedule.

I could see if there were diagnostic equipment that needed to be in the office or something like that, but he doesn't need that.
We may spend 15 - 20 minutes with the doctor. If that is too much of an inconvenience, he should find a new career :)

It's a good thing Daisy has a good mom to know when she needs a trilo break. Hope this is the solution and you both have a good week. I know you have always had to do adjustments with her meds, so you know when she is showing signs of needing it. Blessings

Luckily for us, it's obvious when Daisy's cortisol is too low.
She starts becoming less interested in food until she completely snubs a meal and she becomes lethargic. The signs are obvious.

The IMS agrees with how I'm handling this because on the lower dose, Daisy's fur was dry and brittle again, her pot belly came back, and she was crazy thirsty. So the 10mg in the morning and 7.5mg at night seems to be the perfect balance with a break here when necessary.

Daisy's IMS also said that her quality of life is most important and that sometimes dogs can be super responsive to Trilo and we just have to watch and adjust as needed. She also said that their levels can change too which makes it tricky.

She's due for another ACTH test, but I wanted to get her back to her perky self before attempting that.

Her thirst has decreased, eating is normal except for the times when she needs a break, fur is shiny and growing back in places, no pot belly, and I don't detect muscle wasting so what we're doing is working.

Good news that Daisy is back to herself. I am glad you help remind people about the daily doggie diary they should keep. I write in Tipper's diary first thing in the morning so I don't forget to do it. It has helped me reference many things that have gone on with her, and when she had what at the vets. I don't have to look thru a long file of vet papers then. I just highlight important things in the diary and can find them real easy. It is cool here this morning, but the heat and humidity are to return soon. Hope you and baby have a good day. Blessings

Hi Patti,

I can't take the humidity either :) I think it's because I grew up with two lakes right there for me to access every day. Always had quick relief available.

Today wasn't quite as bad. Chris (my fiance) was here and Daisy LOVES him! She insisted that HE take her for a walk. How she does this is that she'll turn her head around and look to be sure that everyone she wants to go for the walk is there. It's hilarious! She does the same thing to my father.

If everyone isn't following, she'll follow the non-compliant person back to the house.

I always added a little EVOL (Extra-virgin olive oil) to Buddy's and now Rosie's food in the morning. It makes their hair soft and it's and is good for skin too. I'm not sure about Daisy though with her diarrhea issues. You might not want to add fat to her diet.:confused:xxxx

goldengirl88
08-14-2013, 07:43 AM
Valerie:
I use Vitamin E every day with Tipper and she has had no hair or skin issues except underneath her paws where the hair mats and gets like a rock. I thought with her allergic history she would have all kinds of skin issues, but we have none thank God. That is one worry we do not have right now. The vet told me no more than 150 mg per day. I could only find 100mg so that is what I give her. I just drop the whole gel capsule into her food in the morning and she eats it right down. Hope this works as I would also be cautious of the olive oil because of Daisy's diarrhea. I do also give Tipper coconut oil every day, which is great for them. You have to be careful on the amount though as it will make loose greasy stools if you over do it, so it is probably not an option for Daisy. Blessings

Patti,

Daisy Mae "monster" is fine today and less bloated so that cat food caused more than mega poops apparently. Luckily, this too shall pass :) I know, that was a VERY lame pun but I had to do it.

It's a quality dry cat food made with a lot of salmon which makes it smell. On the bright side, just imagine if the food had caused gas!!!! That could be deadly to humans and I would market it for chemical warfare :)

Hmmm. That could work. It would go something like this "Loud neighbors keeping you awake at all hours? Send Daisy to their yard, point her butt first and give her blah blah cat food. Guaranteed to work within minutes!"

How are you and Tipper feeling? We opened the windows today and came home only to close them and turn the air conditioners back on. Last night was heavenly cool though!!!!

Trixie,

I also have a senior at home and Daisy "blows" him away!

Here's how it goes.

sniff...sniff....(Dad)
"Awwww GAWDDDDDDD!"

Daisy seems to be doing well and is on the original 10mg x 2 that the IMS specialist wanted her to start with in the beginning. So, I've come to the conclusion that it was not the Trilostane that she was reacting badly to in the beginning; it was whatever the underlying infection was in her system that the Tylan powder seems to have taken care of.

It has not been humid here so Daisy is back to her usual self wanting to take walks etc. Yes, she even got into the cat food AGAIN and her belly looks like it although it could be the Cushings pot belly returning too. A few days of careful monitoring and exercise gets rid of the belly if it's related to the extra food that she doesn't need. Time will tell.

We're due for an ACTH test but at the moment I just can't afford it. Her symptoms are controlled well, fur is growing back and there are no new skin problems so all of this indicated that she's doing well :)

Thankfully, I have nothing new to report and hope that I haven't just jinxed Daisy and I by typing that!

Annabelle Lee kitty will be coming for a visit this weekend while Chris goes to Ohio for his daughter's 18th birthday. I can't go this time which is ok.

Dad has not been as faithful with his breathing treatments as I and the doctors would like him to be and he's been coughing more lately. We have an appointment at Smilow with the new doctor that I asked for (October) so hopefully nothing will show up and I really can't wait until the day that they truly declare him cancer free. I get nervous every three months.

Chris told me that his daughter will be with us for Christmas this year so I AM ECSTATIC!!!! This will be the first time that she's spent it with us and my father. I would like them to get to know each other.

Sorry for rambling, lots going on but at least I have no bad news :) YIPPEEEE!!!!!

I've been quiet here lately, but I do come online at least once a day and sometimes more to look in on all of you. <3

Valerie:
She loves her ball we play it all the time. She can catch a 1 inch or 2 inch ball from quite a long distance, she is exceptional at it. My yorkie learned it from watching her. I have been using that to check her vision too, and make sure she is still seeing well. She really still plays with toys, but her attention span is not what it was . So when she gets naughty she puts her head to the ground and floors it. Everything in her path is bulldozed, cats included-that is her secret favorite thing to do, she actually snickers looking at them. She knocks them over like bowling pins, and just dares them to complain. She is quite the comedian. I just took her potty and it is miserable out there, hope Daisy can cope with this darn humidity, and gheez here come the storms again for the weekend. I guess I better get the Benadryl out. Then I can try to make the video into a format that can be shared here if you'd like me to.

Daisy hasn't wanted to deal with the humidity today either and frankly, neither do I so I can't blame our furlets one bit.

Sad day for us today. Neighbors that have lived next door for 6 years and have been absolutely WONDERFUL with helping me with the house and dad when needed. While I was working and still in Cos Cob, dad was in and out of the hospital etc., these people cared for his cat EVERY DAY, mowed the lawn, helped me to clear the snow, and kept an eye on the property. They're being foreclosed upon and we're having their whole family over for pizza tonight.

The mom, Jeannie told me that dad made her daughters cry because they saw him outside wiping tears from his face. Oh poo, I'm crying now too.

They also helped when mom was alive and battling Parkinsons. Jeannie helped dad pick her up after a fall when I was not there.

Their daughter Brianna locker herself out of the house and I of course told her to call her mother and tell her that she was at our house. I happened to be raking leaves and she said that she "liked" to rake leaves and ended up helping me until her mother got home.

Recently, dad's battery died completely on his van. Brian, (husband) went to Walmart and bought and installed the battery for him.

Sorry for rambling.

There was a piece on Dateline last nite about foreclosure did you see it. It followed a family for 4 years that was going thru this in California. That is so sad, and to happen to such a wonderful family. This country needs to get turned around. Yesterday on the news here it said 1500 lost their jobs in Cleveland at Bank Of America, who received millions in bail out money. They said the Northeast of Ohio has been hit the most of any area in the country losing jobs. Small wonder all the robberies and killings in Cleveland and surrounding areas. Hey I am from Pittsburgh, and I am not used to hearing all this bad stuff. Would hate to live up by there! It seems we are not doing anything to help the people suffering from job loss, going even so far as cutting off their unemployment compensation. Thank you everyone. They're moving out this weekend even though they still have some time. Brian that they want to avoid any attempts at eviction from the bank.

Letti, it's ironic that you say this because their original mortgage was from Gmac. Once the government took them over, the mortgages were sold to MidFirst Bank and i have been reading many stories of people going through foreclosures with this specific bank and all mention how the bank does not want to work with people AT ALL. Honestly, I think that MidFirst is more interested in obtaining homes to flip them, not to carry mortgages.

So, as far as I'm concerned, our own government played a huge part in this family and others losing their homes.

Daisy continues to do well :) Her fur is finally starting to get shiny again and her bald spots have all grown back! Aside from when it's humid, her energy level has greatly improved too.

I have never in my life seen anything like the problems the U.S. is having with home owners, foreclosures and losses. My brother and other family members live in Vermont. He can't even sell his house cause he'd get less for it then what is owed. People work so hard all their lives and to have this happen is completely a tragedy.

It's a complete shame what has happened to your neighbours. Why is it that bad things always happen to good people? It is just plain unfair.

Well, the kitties can at least be in the same room as one another without attacking now, so maybe we're getting somewhere?

Saw this video and hope that all of you can access it. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1425532414339183&set=vb.136336876521150&type=2&theater

Valerie:
Are the cats both the same sex? How did you manage to get them in the same room together without wanting to kill one another. Cats can be vicious to one another if they dislike the other one for some reason. What does Miss Daisy think of these cats? I am glad she continues to do well after all the episodes she has gone thru this year. How is your dad doing? Is Chris back yet? Hope you can get a walk in before the heat and humidity set in, it is already here this morning so Tipper will be in for the day.Blessings

Patti, yes they are and they got along fine the last time that Chris went away and left them with me. The only difference is that Chris has been working late a lot and Annie was home alone for 10 hours a day. Things are getting better. I think they were just working out who is the alpha.

Daisy could care less about them :)
It's been raining here.

You'll have to put them in kitty time out if they start up again!! I'm sure that will fix their little butts. I know what you mean about the heat. Yesterday 96 and over 60% dew point. Today we got up and it is worse, very thick fog. The doggies are not walking today it is too dangerous. Hope Daisy get thru this hot spell it is supposed to be over by the weekend and cooler air will start the fall weather according to our weatherman. When did Daisy go off the Tylan? No episodes after that?? Blessings
