I'm sorry to have been MIA. Still no job prospects, I even combed the mall!
Very, very worried about finances and losing hope. Last night, a pipe burst under the bathtub in the downstairs bathroom. Same spot last year. I'm so so depressed. Just want the bad things to stop.
As you can see, I'm not in a good place at all.

Oh Val, I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a rough time! To me, this is always such a dreary time of year, anyway. By far, my least favorite part of the calendar. And then to add in losing your dad and all the financial concerns -- I can sure understand why you are bummed! :( :(
I'll keep my fingers crossed that some unexpected opportunity will pop up for you. In the meantime, you can always come here and vent, OK?
How are Bella and the kitties -- doing well, I hope!

Hi Val,
I know it is so easy to loose hope when at every turn, it seems the forces of the universe are against you. But remember how strong you are and it will get better.

Hi Valarie I'm so sorry to hear of everything that is going on lately.
Worries and grief, they don't mix well. :(
Take care of yourself. I'll be hoping we get some good news from you soon.
hugs

Oh man thats terrible!:( Do you ever try to leave water dripping to keep them from freezing? Thats what I have to do out here in the country when it is really cold!
Glad you got another Doxie.:)

Thankfully, it was the whirlpool tub downstairs. I use the upstairs bathroom most of the time.
Doxies have the best personalities. All 3 cats face-snuggle Bella. The love her! It's adorable. Gracie and Bella are very playful together. Grace even rolls over belly-up. That's her signal that playtime is over.
Nothing on the job front. I'm very worried now. The VA said it will take a year for them to decide whether or not to honor dad's life insurance. He was 2 weeks late filing the application because of hospital stays. Ridiculous.

Hi Val,
I feel so badly about all of this turmoil you are having after losing your dad. Sometimes it is hard to find the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.
My shoulder is here if you need to lean on it.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through so much between Daisy and your dad passing and now pipes bursting and job hunting. I pray things get better for you and turn around. Jobs are hard to find but hopefully more will open up soon and you will find something just perfect for you.
Sounds like you have had an awful lot to deal with in such a short time. Hugs.

Still no luck with finding a job. This is ridiculous and now the VA doesn't want to pay dad's life insurance money. Hope everyone is doing well.

Val, I hate that you are still having such a tough time! Has the VA made their final determination yet re: the insurance, or are they still just dragging their heels? Is there an attorney that might take on the case on consignment? It's a shame to have to pay any percentage in legal fees, but at least you might be able to get some form of settlement from the VA...

Oh Val,
I am so very sorry things still are not easing up for you. Regarding the VA, have you contacted the VA advocate department (I know they work with the benefit departments in clearing cases? (Sorry if I am repeating what you already have done) but keep pressing! Was the insurance directly with the VA? or a third party like USAA?

Oh Val, so sorry to hear that you still haven't found a job and the VA is being obstinate about the insurance.

Val--I wish things were going better for you! Couple of thoughts re VA: are any of your senators particularly interested in veterans' issues. If so, that might be an avenue to pursue. Here in Tampa bay each of the tv stations has someone who helps citizens resolve issues. Maybe there is something similar in your area. Sending big hugs to you!

I've contacted Senator Blumenthal's office. The VA in Philadelphia is in charge of the insurance and they are HORRIBLE. Now they're insisting that I prove that dad had dimentia since according to them, frequent hospital stays and being on a ventilator are not valid excuses for getting the paperwork in 2 weeks late. I'm calling the DAV next week. They handle advocacy but they only take calls on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 2pm.
I have $63 left to my name and have set up a GoFundMe page, "Proud Veteran's Girl Needs Help"..

Oh Val,
I am so very sorry you are having these troubles. Yes, talk to an advocate!!!!! They are there to serve veterans. They also may be able to assist veterans' family members (although not a vet yourself) in tough situations.

Terry,
I've involved a Rep from Senator Blumementhal's office.

I hope the Rep from the senators office can help. Did they sound positive about getting this resolved?

No, he did not. Philadelphia handles all VA death benefits and they're horrible! My local VA also said the same. Praying a lot.
Spent Memorial Day at the ER. Poison ivy on my forehead, cheaks, chin, right hand, both arms, and my eyes and throat began itching.
I wore gloves. Wasn't enough.

Hi, Val! I really, really hope you can finally see the end of this long road. The VA really needs to get its act together, in so many areas.
I miss "seeing" you here -- life just gets in the way, doesn't it!

Aww, thanks Judy.
I was so devastated by the vet error that he still refuses to acknowledge and Daisy's death because of him. I just needed a break from all related to Cushings. Then caring for dad, losing both parents, fighting the VA, and looking for a job.....you get the idea.
I still have to go through the house and clean etc. Much too hot so I've been focusing on the outside. Amazing how many trees grow where they're not supposed to in 3 years.
Has anyone heard from Meg? Wondering how she's acclimating to the new puppy and if her treatment was a success.
I belong to a Cushings group on FB and have steered several people here to ensure that they get the most accurate information.
Also wondering how Kenny made out with his Grace?
Always thinking of everyone and their "furlets", hoping all is well.
