"Checking in" is a topic that we start on the first of each month. We suspect that we have a good number of members who read the messages regularly but who don't post very often. Maybe that's because their dogs are doing well, or they don't have a Cushing's dog anymore, or they haven't got any questions to ask, or maybe they don't feel very comfortable about posting answers to other members' questions. It's perfectly understandable and acceptable for folks to only post once in a while, but when we don't hear from people, many of us find ourselves wondering what those folks have been up to recently and how their dogs are doing.
It's always preferable to post updates about your Cushing's dog in your own thread/topic (especially if you want feedback/replies from other members) but you can also post a quick reply here if you just want to say hi and let everyone know how you are doing in general.
We'd love to hear from you! :)

How does everyone else handle the looks and comments from folks who think you have lost your marbles by taking care of your cushpup? I have heard the comment "well..he is just a dog" more than once.

Ignore them.
You haven't lost your marbles because my dog, if she could talk, could probably outsmart most of these people.
And that's the thing, they're not 'just dogs' they're family and sad wouldn't be the word to use when our fluffy ones go. Complete devastation is more like it.
That said I feel for you and you don't have to explain why your dog means so much to us.

Still looking in from time to time.
For those that remember me (Coco's Mum), do you remember Zedley the Wire Haired Terrier (he was a pedigree at the end of his stud life)? Sadly on the day before Christmas 2011 he had 9 grand mal seizures. Had him on phenobarbitol until 28th Dec and back to the vet. he had lost all cognitive function, so I had to let him go to the Rainbow Bridge. So sad as he was a lovely boy and only 9 years old.
Now I have another Furry friend. Iggy the Affenpinscher, aka Australian Champion Chiniamee Hedar no Evil. He is 3 years old and needed a forever, pet home. He has been here 4 weeks, and is all settled in and ruling the roost.:)
(Administrative Note: We've created a brand new thread for Iggy on our "Everything Else" forum, so everyone who wishes to greet Loraine and welcome Iggy can now add a reply to Iggy's own thread:
