Dang, Flynny Boy what is going on with you? Mom is all worried and so are we.
Gosh Trish, I was hoping for a good report. I am sure glad you are home with him.
Trish

Honestly, he is not too bad Addy. I am home not because he is sick but because I have been bit under the weather myself. So I am probably just noticing it more, plus he is probably bored with a lack of walks too. Poor boy just got a quick shower for the itches. He very much enjoyed the blow wave afterwards and ate his lunch straight after!!
Last year over winter I was giving him low dose tramadol every day, so maybe he is just feeling this arthritis a bit more. Not too worried about the wee vomit, think it is that horse pill Samilyn that does it on occasion!

Trish would an xray of his back maybe tell you more? When woody did his back in he used to go head down and shake my vet thought the shaking could be pain related. Maybe it is just a nerve or something getting tweaked every so often. Hope he is ok today :p
Well the tennis started yesterday there goes my social life for 2 weeks I love Wimbledon finger crossed Andy Murray can do it again this year although Just watched Nadal seems on form :)
Hubby is watching Wimbledon as well. I wont be getting him to do anything;)
Trish, maybe Flynn's arthritis is acting up. have you tried the tramadol?
Feel better
Trish

HI Addy and Tracy
Love Wimbledon too, only problem is it's usually on in the middle of the night!! I see your boy Andy won his first game Tracy, so that's a good start! :)
The boy seems good this morning, no puking up his pills. He's just been out on cat patrol! I don't know why these stupid cats come through here knowing he is likely to be about. Cat's aren't stupid though, crafty things probably taunting him on purpose! I can't let him out in the night without leashing him or else he just goes out barking like a banshee and that will upset the neighbours!
xx

06-24-2014, 06:08 PM
Good to hear no puking and cat patrol is good. Woody was the same at night he was put on a lead because of the rabbits as he would just bark his head off
I'm not sure Andy can do it this year but worried that he changed trainers only 3 weeks ago, I watched the replay of federer and he smashed his game in just over an hour so it's all to play for gulp
Trish
06-24-2014, 06:15 PM
Forgot to say about the xray, need to talk to Mike about that but never discussed it when I saw him briefly on Monday. I do think his arthritis is playing up. Have not given him Tramadol so far today as he does not appear sore, will see how he goes.
I love Federer, he is my favourite and Nadal too! Andy can be 3rd though... oops nope he can't... he's 4th. Just remembered Ferrer, who always comes to our little NZ tournament each year and is a favourite! He is like a little terrier when he plays, scurrying about after every ball no matter how impossible it seems! Love that never give up attitude!
There is a buck with antlers in the far back- he is huge- wish I could get a picture for you. I better hurry and get the dang Frontline for Koko;)
Hope things are good today for you

Hi Addy! Yep so far, so good!!
There has been a story in our news this week about a stag attacking its owner, it was a pet . But he had a dog (a foxie like Flynny) and it chased it and got it all riled up, then it attacked!! Typical Foxie, they think they are 10ft tall and bullet proof :) Sounds like it is now going to be venison steaks~
Story here: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503462&objectid=11280486
So moral of the story, let sleeping stags lie!! :D:D
I used to go out and talk to the deer when we first moved here. The herd was larger then and we usually had about eight hanging around. They would just tolerate me and continue about their business, looking at me off and on. Then my neighbor told me I was crazy because the deer could charge me and hurt me.
When Zoe and I would walk with my pocket full of chicken, she never barked at them and they would smell the chicken and come closer to us. So much for them not liking meat!!!
Trish

Blardy cannibals, your neighbour was quite right!!!
molly muffin
06-24-2014, 09:03 PM
So when you pop into a thread and the first thing you read is "blardy cannibals" just know that there are a range of images that can go through your mind!
I just heard on the news that they are warning people to keep children and animals inside, in one of the areas that is sort of a suburb city of Toronto and for people not to go out so much as there are 2 large aggressive coyotes in the area, that have chased and attacked people. Bit 2 women in fact. So animal services and police are looking for them as they are a danger. They keep heading into the deep woods in the green belt though, so I guess no luck yet. Scary! We have coyotes here in our park and in creek area, inside the city but haven't known them to attack anyone yet.
Got to run. Flynn, you be good for your mum and no shenanigans. Trish I think you'll feel better maybe if you can get that xray done. Just to see if anything is off or not.
hugs

Hi - good night here but slept in this morning! Nearly 10am already, getting a bit too used to the week off :D Mike seems to think this was just a muscular incident and is not recommending xray right now. Maybe if it keeps up we will do it. But he seems OK apart from the darn itching!
OMG imagine going for a walk and coming across coyotes, what a nightmare. Hope they catch them soon. Nearly vacation time Sharlene, hope work is fading into a distant memory and you have your bags packed! x
Woodydog
06-25-2014, 07:22 PM
That's good that mike thinks it's muscular just need to keep an eye on him. Goodness knows what's going on with the itchies
molly muffin
06-25-2014, 11:15 PM
Working on the packing, keep getting sidetracked
Now they are wondering if those animals might be some hybrid coyote, or something else. Still not caught.

Crazy scary.
Glad Flynn's issues appear to be muscular. That can take a while to heal though too if it's pulled, etc.
Molly is at the kennel, house is way too quiet for my liking.

Just got email from Mike, UPC is up to 1.39 from 0.77 two months ago... bah humbug! But not too worried as he was unwell with whatever happened last weekend and if he is off colour he always seems to throw more protein in his urine. Plus he had been drinking a lot that night/morning and that always seems to give a higher result than when he is fasted.
Woodydog
06-26-2014, 06:12 PM
ok i,m not worried either, as you say he was unwell so that will make it go up. Yay on the apoquel i hear nothing but good reports about it, the girl in my work uses it on her staffy and it has worked wonders with him, so fingers crossed it helps flynn. Are you doing the doubling up on it for is it 2 weeks then you taper it down ??
Trish
06-26-2014, 06:20 PM
Yep, I agree. Not going to sweat the small stuff! Sent you the apoquel info
Harley PoMMom
06-26-2014, 09:03 PM
Regarding Flynn's UPC results I agree with you too. ;) Sorry to hear that he has been having some issues and hopefully sweet Flynn will feel more like his "ole self" real soon.
Hugs, Lori
Trish
06-27-2014, 12:08 AM
Reassuring to hear you say that Lori! I know the water intake is not meant to affect the result, but from having lots done now it does seem to in Flynny's case
Picked up the apoquel, given first dose. Bit the bullet and had his bloods done too. Mike said he is over the weekend so will let me know results when they come in from external lab. Paw's crossed!
Hi Mel :D:D:D:D:D:D we will catch up soon!! xxxxx
Trish
06-27-2014, 06:31 PM
Awww he's not well again. Trembling and walking slow. Dunno what the heck is going on with him, but my radar is on high alert :( Does not want to eat his breakfast but it has Tramadol in it and he only had a few nibbles. I gave him a squirt in his mouth in case it is his back. Just did a normal poop so don't think it is his gut. Poor Flynny :(
Hi Trish,
I am still at work, and was reading a bit on the fly. Sorry to read Flynn is not feeling well again. :( I will post more about everything when I get home, but my immediate thought was if you started the apoquel or not? If so, could that be upsetting his tummy at all?
I won't be home for at least another hour or so, but will check back in then. Big hugs Trish, I know how worrisome all of this is. xo
Woodydog
06-27-2014, 07:18 PM
Oh no! I doubt it would be the Apoquel as is this the same symptoms as before ? Has his BP been checked recently, I'm still inclined to go with pain or infection but as his bloods were ok then I'm at a lose. Hopefully the tramadol will kick in soon and he,ll feel better. Has he eaten anything, his long is the shaking thing lasting?
Trish
06-27-2014, 07:23 PM
HI Tina and Tracy
He seems a bit better. He only had one dose of apoquel yesterday, I heard him in the night scratching. I had put Tramadol in his food, he would not eat that. But I offered him plain food and he ate OK. Bowel OK. He just looks so miserable when this happens. I think he is a bit better with the Tramadol on board so will just give it regularly a few days. I thought last night he was a bit off too.. his in house bloods last week OK. MIke took proper ones yesterday so will see what they show.
I don't think it is the apoquel either as this is same as he has had last week too Tracy.
He just trembles, and the odd twitch too... like a wee jerk. I really dunno it it is his back... he does that shake like when they are wet and spray water everywhere. He did that before, you would think if his back was sore he would not want to do that.
Woodydog
06-27-2014, 07:30 PM
If his back was sore, then i wouldn't have thought he,d be doing proper shakes like you describe. I don't know what it could be, is it case of waiting for the proper bloods, and keeping him on the tramadol till you can figure it out. Is it whole body trembling legs, body etc or a bit like the terrier shakes ?
Trish
06-27-2014, 07:35 PM
Yes, I think that is what we have to do. MIke has not replied to email but if he is consulting with patients he probably not even seen it. He does seem a bit perkier now. When he is bad, he trembles all over, worse than his usual terrier shakes. I got him in his bed with the hottie on his back again anyway
Woodydog
06-27-2014, 07:42 PM
They are such a worry aren't they times like this you wish they could say "hey mom my back, leg, tummy etc is sore" hot water bottle and rest sounds good. Hope mike gets back to you soon. Do you check his gums when he has these episodes. Sorry just going through everything in my head that I can think off lol

Trish I am sorry to hear Flynn is not feeling well and not knowing what is causing it has to be extremely stressful and worrisome. I hope and pray you get to the bottom of this quickly and Flynn gets over this completely.
HUGS to you both!
Trish
06-27-2014, 07:48 PM
Yes I do, gums are fine. He just walked across the lounge and chased a fly that crossed his path! I have to go around to Mum's so better go get ready. He will be coming with me of course! Dunno what the heck it is. Will let you know how he goes a bit later. Have a good sleep Tracy

06-27-2014, 07:55 PM
Trish except for the times he acts fine it sounds like back pain to me, trembling(usually means pain) walking slow..lower back issues Did your vet examine his back, did Flynn show any signs of discomfort when he examined it?

06-27-2014, 07:59 PM
Ok Flynny, enough already. You are scaring all of us, especially you mum.:eek: We expect you to be annihilating toys and chasing cats out of your yard, before rolling in disgusting matter at the beach. That's the Flynny we all know and love.:p
Big hugs Trish. It sucks when their out if sorts and we can't figure it out. I was so glad to see Mel surface. I hope she pops in again soon. Xxxxxx
I hope he is feeling better. He doesn't have a fever does he? When they tremble like that, I always think pain somewhere. Gums are good?
If only they could talk

Well I do have some good news!
Liver tests are the best they have been back to April 2013! Keeping in mind we know he has liver disease, these are great numbers for him.
Postop Bloods 11th Feb
ALP 1444 (0-185)
ALT 242 (0-75)
On Prednisone 27th March low dose 5mg twice daily for 5 days, then once a day for 5 days, then alternate days for a week. So I guess interesting to see how much a dose of Prednisone can impact these numbers. No wonder Cush pups with all that cortisol have high liver numbers.
ALP 4274
ALP 493
4 weeks off Prednisone 29th April
ALP 2293
ALT 406
Yesterday 27th June
ALP 1022
ALT 336
He has been quiet all day, limping a little, so this is all leading me to believe it is musculoskeletal in some form or another. Mike wanted me to let him know how he settled this arvo which I have just done, so maybe he will get back to me but think I will be giving him regular Tramadol a few days and see how we go.
Thanks for your notes everyone, Flynny says woof! xxxxx
Budsters Mom
06-28-2014, 02:05 AM
That is great news!:p I hope the tramadol helps Flynny feel better. Xxxxx
Trish
06-28-2014, 02:13 AM
Thanks Kathy, be nice to see that ALT down some more. But I have to be realistic, we know he still has some of that liver tumour in him. They could not precisely say whether it was low grade malignant or benign, but whatever they say his liver function will never be normal. So I will take that for now, least I have stopped worrying his liver is the cause. I have asked both the vet on last week and also Mike about whether this could be the pheo (IF any was still in him, ie the nodule on other adrenal) but they doubt it, Mike thinks as it seems to affect his BP so much we would see it in that AND there was no growth on his last scan barely two months ago.
One thing I am noticing, gawd he STINKS when he farts! Poops have been great though. I have his worming pill to give him, but have held it off a little while he has been a bit iffy. I don't think it is his bowel. No change in food for a couple of months so not sure what is make him so whiffy! Maybe got something manky up the beach, but I would have thought that would give him diarrhea.
Vicki - he has had back examined, a little tender but no major sore spot.
Addy - gums nice and pink phew! I always check that if he does anything funny like this.
Glad to see such an improvement in his liver numbers Trish! That is great news, definitely going in the right direction. And we know we don't have to worry about that right now. Yay! :) I would love it if Jasper's ALP would get down that low!
I just asked the question about the apoquel because it was something new that was introduced. Jasper trembles sometimes too. Mostly just in his legs. I haven't mentioned this very much on his thread but his front legs are trembling quite a bit more than they ever used to, I hope it's just a terrier/schnauzer thing. However, he will tremble all over with pain, of course, and he will also do it when his tummy is upset. That was why I mentioned that possibility for Flynn. Did he eat his dinner ok?
I really wonder if he isn't having some sort of spasms in his back, like I said previously. Those can be very sporadic and painful. Hopefully the tramadol will help. So happy about the lab results, what a relief. I hope he gets to feeling better soon Trish. xo
I forgot to comment about the UPC. I don't like that it is up a bit, but I totally agree with you since Flynn hasn't been feeling the best. xo
Trish
06-28-2014, 06:27 AM
Hi Tina - thanks for that... I was so happy to see the ALP down like far :D it so close to being back in 3 figures!!! ALT could come down a bit further and I would be even more happy.
He has been fine tonight, a little slow but not too bad. I had to go out this afternoon and he stayed with Mum and Dad, my brother and SIL are up from Wellington for the weekend and they were helping to do yard work while I went out and had my hair done :p didn't feel too bad as I do all the week in, week out work with parents!! We had dinner there but home now by 8.30pm as didn't want to keep Flynny out late. He certainly got his appetite back this afternoon/evening and has been real hungry so hopefully filled him up.
I gave him another dose of Tramadol tonight, boy he hates that stuff. He never refuses meds, but he must be able to sniff this one out!! I opened the capsules, then took most out and then refilled it with his dose and closed it up and he took it then. So what I think I need to do is visit a pharmacy tomorrow and get some empty capsule cases so I can give him the dose without him smelling it. Will check with Mike in case they have a smaller dose too. He tolerated the drops pretty well mixed in his food last year but no go right now.
First thing Mike asked was had I started the apoquel Tina, it can give them nausea as well. But seems to wear off after a while.
But I do feel better knowing his liver is behaving right now. Yep not too worried about that UPC, his has gone up and down all along. So as far as that goes I am not too worried. Mike said he had the liver tests, but did not send results for renal. Maybe get that tomorrow. xxxxxxx

Hello
How's the boy today? Great to see the numbers coming down and heading in the right direction. :)
Trish
06-28-2014, 06:19 PM
I know!! That made me very happy! Gave him Tramadol last night and again this morning. Again slow first thing, will see how he goes today. I just fed him, so waiting to see if he finished it all.
I got woken up by his stomach gurgling this morning, it was really loud. Poop OK, perhaps a little soft first thing. But I am wondering if it is the brewers yeast/garlic powder I am giving him for fleas. I sprinkle half teaspoon on his food. Maybe that is fermenting overnight and giving him gas?? Stopped it today to see how he goes. Awww he only ate 2/3 but was bit plateful.
Woodydog
06-28-2014, 06:32 PM
At least he ate. Remember the Apoquel can upset the tummy too. Yes I read he was a stinky boy with his bottom burps lol. But least you know the liver is behaving :D

I am looking at this website, what do you think? She is not keen on garlic/brewers yeast either. I think I will get some apple cider vinegar when I go to town later, need to pick up some more fish oil too.

Gawd you could've warned me when the page opened there was a big pic of a flea now I'm all itchy lol. Seems like a good website I was never a lover of the garlic based one over here it's called Billy no mates. Can you not use a collar on him not a flea collar but oh I can remember the name of it I,ll go check back in a mo

He would smell nice!! I have mandarins, limes, tangelos and lemons on the trees at the moment!! I put some of those herbs in that article on my shopping list for today. Just wish it had a recipe! I know Leslie has said in the past you need to be very careful about essential oils so won't use them. But will get some apple cider vinegar too.

There must be a recipe somewhere online, but agree about the essential oils

I am always confused about giving garlic to dogs, on many sites it is listed as toxic to dog but yet it is in so many foods and treats. Can anyone clear this up for me?
I hope Flynn gets over whatever is making him feel not so well.

Hi all
Flynn is better today, quite perky!! Maybe stopping the brewers yeast/garlic powder helped. Apoquel seems to be working, hardly any itching. Appetite back in this morning too so pleased with him! Hopefully no further episodes this week. He did not seem in any pain so no tramadol today. :)
Vicki, I am a bit the same as you. I know onions are a no no, gives them a weird anaemia. Garlic can be dangerous if too much is given, how much is too much I am not sure! So I am not much help for you and I am too tired to google :eek: bit of a shock to the system going back to work today so I am heading to bed right now and it is not even 9pm!!

Hey Trish - dropping in to say hi. Glad Flynn is doing better and the itching is receding. :)

Hi Trish, I'm hoping, too, that all is good with Flynn! I've just spent a scary evening with Luna going through almost the exact same thing . She's had some mysterious orthopedic pain in the past, but no issues for a long while now. She seemed perfectly fine all day, then gave out a piercing yelp right after I fed her dinner, then turned all slinky and hangdog and went and hid in a corner, all trembly and breathing hard. Scared the dickens out of me, and of course right when the regular vet was closing. I got her to stand up and walk around a bit, but with a couple more yelps so I didn't push it further. Just looked up the nearest ER vet and waited for hubby to get home...:(
By then she had quieted down, though, and was actually sleeping, so we've been hoping to let things slide till morning. I just now roused her and let both girls out for a final pee, and although not totally right, she seems better. Even took the time to search for rabbit poop to nosh on . So I'm hoping the acute part is over, but still so odd. And I kept thinking of you all evening and wishing I could just chat things over with you. I am so awful in a crisis -- just get all panicky and brainless! But I kept thinking, "Flynny's better now, though, so you can do it too, Luna! Paws up!"
Sure hope things are better still in the morning, and most certainly that Flynn is still on the mend, too.

Hi everyone, we are still doing good so far this week. :)
But I am not very happy to hear that Luna is copying our Flynn!!! Marianne, was there any indication about what bit of her hurt?? It is so hard to tell isn't it. Sometimes it can even be hard to detect if it is musuloskeletal or something else going on. First thing I do when anything sudden happens to Flynn is check his gums, if they have not gone pale then not likely to be anything causing him shock. Then give him a run over with my hands and check if there are any spots obviously bothering him, watch him walk, turn his paws under to make sure they turn them back up again, can be a sign of back injury, feel his tummy to check it is soft, nothing around that could have bit her like a bee or anything??
Check her feet real well, just with that sudden yelp I wonder if she trod on something sharp or bent a claw back? Any blood?? Hasn't cracked a tooth when she ate has she?? What was she doing when it happened walking away from her bowl when she finished eating or just simply lying about?? They are such a mystery sometimes, but it sounds like she settled back down and was walking OK later on so that is good!! If I am not still up when you get wake up, please leave a wee note to say how she is. I know you will have her in to the vet if she is still not right for a proper checkup, but I am hoping it was just something simple that has righted itself. Why don't these blinking pups do these things through normal working hours?? Why, why?? :D Least you have the urgent vets available. Hope you got some sleep and she is just fine today. Anyway, I hope these things that run through my head in these situations can help :) and yes PAWS UP LUNA xxxxx

Hi Trish! We are up a bit early, because I heard the girls stirring and of course immediately got up to check on them. I had spent most of the night on the couch alongside Luna, but had crept up to bed for the last couple of hours. Miraculously, she seems to be right as rain again, at least for the moment! So I guess I will go ahead and give her breakfast (that's always such a hard call if I'm thinking she may need testing, but I guess I will go ahead...).
I will write more later as to her history of orthopedic oddness, but right now I am hoping this was a transitory episode. No jumping in the car today for walkies today, regardless! Thanks so much for all your suggestions and worrying about us. I will write more later on, while you and Flynn are snoozing away! ;)

Well, she gobbled down her breakfast as usual, so that is good. But then went racing off to lurk in her crate, undoubtedly cuz she expects me to be re-examining her again which she HATES. But she was fine walking around the yard to take care of her business beforehand.
I do think she has some sort of chronic orthopedic issue where something slips or a nerve gets pinched in her neck/shoulder/back. She's had x-rays in the past, and physical exams that have turned up nothing so we know that the next step would probably be an MRI which we've avoided thus far because she'd had no acute issues for at least three years now and I was hoping they were done with :o. I try to be careful and do not throw balls for her to chase, just letting her run naturally on her own. In the past, she's had the problem while chasing something down. But last night she simply stood up from lying down and obviously something went wrong. Such a puzzle, such a puzzle. But thank goodness, she's better now and I probably won't even bother taking her in since there is nothing to be "seen" at the moment.
How is Flynn???
Trish
07-02-2014, 07:27 AM
AWwww she is hiding from you :) just like Flynn when I turn the shower on and he realises its for him!!! That ortho history sounds similar to him too. Years ago, he did the sudden head drop, trembling, yelp like how you described but he stayed bad and got rushed to vet at night (not Mike way back then!). Xray showed a bit of a slipped disc at T12 if I remember rightly, it did not appear to be impinging on spinal canal either and he came right in a few days. I think those type of injuries do set them up for arthritis later in life, how old is Luna?
Flynn is pretty good, apart from his intermittent limping on his front legs. He can go a while (like days) without doing it, then it will come on again. Usually after he has been resting a while and he first gets up, limp limp across the room until he comes right again. No more episodes of the scary kind since Saturday. He is having doggie dreams on the couch right now ;) I guess my next decision for him is going to be doing the lipomas, he has the big one on his right shoulder, at the front right over the joint which Mike thinks might be responsible for this limping. Not in the next couple of weeks anyway. But then on the other hand if we don't do it, it might never come right

Luna is just six now, and had the first episode quite young, so I am afraid it is an issue that is maybe congenital and will likely worsen with aging or traumatic re-injury. But right now I am taking your slogan to heart and just being grateful that she seems so much better this morning!
Darn those nasty lipomas! We just found a big lump in Peg's armpit that will have to be checked in a couple of weeks along with her regular phenobarb level, but it feels all soft and pliable like a lipoma. I surely understand why you are leery of anesthesia with Flynn, as I am with Peg, too. But I love our vet and thank goodness you have Mike. At least it helps knowing how careful and concerned they are about our kids!
Trish
07-02-2014, 07:52 AM
Haha, positive affirmations sometimes helps keep the demons at bay!! :D She's just a young pup!! :) Sure hope today goes well for her and she is pain free!! Is Peg still behaving gut wise? How often does the phenobarb level need to be checked for her?? She has been seizure free for a long time now? Darn lipoma's, he has had them off twice now over the years, but they keep on coming back. If you can get your fingers around them and they feel mobile that is usually a good sign too, but they can get into the muscle layer which can make them feel harder to move.
labblab
07-02-2014, 08:00 AM
Peg is behaving, and thank you for asking about her a while back on her thread. I got distracted and did not reply! She has the phenobarb level and full bloods checked every six months (although she usually gets some extra chem panels thrown in whenever she is barfing or has diarrhea! :o ).

Well you have certainly been having exciting times Marianne (NOT!) Glad to hear that Luna is better this morning and Peg continues to do better too.
Good to hear that Flynn man is behaving himself this week. Molly too sometimes does the limpy thing when she first gets up from laying down and then it rights itself. Not the same as what she did before, which was a very definite holding her paw up and not putting weight on it. That doesn't seem to have returned so whew, for that. (see I probably just jinxed us all!!! cross fingers that I didn't)
Have a good day all. HUMP day for us westerners. :)

Hi Trish & Flynn!!
I have missed all your exciting stories.. Hopefully I am back for awhile. Crazy year 2014 is...
It makes me so happy to see Flynn on here. ;)
Amy
Hey Girl,
Hope your weekend has been a good one and Flynny boy is not digging to China:D:D:D:D The other night one of the TV shows was featuring street food stands in a market in China ( not sure which city) They had deep fried scorpions on a stick:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
And people think we have weird fried food on a stick at our state fair!!!;);)
Trish
07-05-2014, 04:51 PM
Haha, well I bet Flynny would like a deep fried scorpion on a stick Addy... we know he likes sticks after that episode a few weeks back!!:eek:
We are going great thanks girls :D:) He has not had any further episodes but still a bit of limping on those front legs. Other than that a box of birds! x

07-05-2014, 05:31 PM
So glad to hear that you're both doing better. Have you finally shaken that nasty bug you had?
Yes, I think we should box up a few deep fried scorpions and send them to Flynny. We would remove the sticks, of course! Yum! Lol
Is that front leg limping something that he's just going to have to live with? We all have something as we age. Why should Flynny be any different? I love that boy and you too Trish.
Thank you so much for lighting a candle for my lizard boy. I loved your toast also, "Lizards for Dinner!" It made me smile. Oddly, he never ate the lizards. He loved to play with them until they stopped moving. I couldn't always rescue them in time. Buddy always dropped them immediately when I told him to. If it was still alive, it would scamper away. He would be royally ticked off at me if his prize got away. He would tell me about it for at least the next five minutes. lol Many lizards ended up in the lizard graveyard over the fence. :o
Buddy was absolutely obedient at all times. Rosie knows the commands, but only follows them if she's in the mood. Otherwise it's, "i'd rather not thank you." Lol. They are so different. Xxxxxxx

Hey Kathy!! You relaxing now you are on holidays??
Nah, I am still not quite right, but hopefully getting there. Back at work last week and that did not go well, but oh well hopefully this one will be better! :)
I think the limping may well be due to the lipoma over the joint, it is mainly his front legs. It has been getting ever so slightly worse over last couple of months. He used to do it occasionally after getting up, but lately I have noticed at the end of his walks he has it slightly. It is not enough to stop him running, no sirreee and he is on constant cat patrol and chases them out the yard if they dare to enter.
Hehe deep fried lizards on a stick may be more to Buddy's liking! I love Rosie's spunk, she is such a darling girl if a little daring for her own good!! Still, she is just a pup... Flynn was mad as a bat until he turned about 3! So there is hope for her yet, although I really hope she keeps you on your toes with her fab personality for many many years to come!! xxx

Yes, kicking back. My cough is finally gone. I had it for over six weeks! Right now, I'm just contemplating a nap. Lol I'm off until the 25th of August. Seven more glorious weeks! :D:p
Maybe you need more time off to shake that yuck you have? You are probably allergic to work! Lol
Take care sweet. Big hugs for you and butt scratches for my boy.:)

Nap sounds good Kathy!! You deserve a good break now after the year you have had, so pleased to hear you are chilling out and the cough has finally receded! Whooping cough has been in the news here too, with a lot of schools struggling with it. Nasty thing.
Flynny is looking at me with pleading eyes to convince me it is walkies time, so we are heading up the beach soon, I gave him that butt scratch and said it was from Aunty Kathy and he says yippyou very much :D have a good day Kathy! x

Hey Trish - my Ichiro has had a few lipomas over the years, and one was getting into the joint and growing under the muscle. It really started to affect him, so we had it removed. Do you think you'll have to do the same for Flynn?
molly muffin
07-08-2014, 10:11 PM
Molly has one that is under a muscle too, but not on a joint, it is however very close under her front leg arm pit.
Vet said that at some point, if that one starts to cause problems it would have to come off. So, good point, the limping could be from that.

Yes, we think it is likely to be from the lipoma too. Mike is keen to get it and a few other big ones off. He is just so good otherwise at the moment I am pretty keen to let him have a few weeks of peace and no testing or anything like that. I want to take a week off when he has the surgery, so might look at it in a month or two.
Renee - I have cut down the apoquel to just once a day. He was meant to have it twice a day for two weeks, but I really saw a difference in him itching less so I reduced the dose after 8 days instead. Occasional itching, but nowhere near as bad!! Hip hooray for that!! x
Hurrah for less itches for our Flynny.:):):):):):)
I don't blame you for wanting to wait on any more procedures. It gives you both a well deserved break. That is something you both can use.
Lol, Koko was trying to dig to China on our bedroom chaise. I kept thinking about Flynn digging by the fence and wondering what the heck Koko thought he was digging--- silly boys:D:D:D
Enjoy your week, it is almost over for you!!!!

07-09-2014, 01:38 PM
That is awesome about the apoquel!!
I totally understand wanting to wait on the lipomas... my only advice would be to remove it sooner than later, before it gets too deep into the joint / muscle, making the surgery that much more difficult and painful. Ichiro's was down to the bone and starting to make the muscle separate. Recovery was not so good. :( He hurt so bad having all that muscle peeled back. I felt terrible. Of course, a month won't make any difference, and giving Flynn a break from the vet is understandable. I sure wish I could stick my head in the sand sometimes on all this vet stuff! It seems like one thing after another sometimes.

Box of birds = happy!! :D:D
A good week here, Flynny seems to be doing just fine! Had to get up early and take my car in for a service, highway robbers that lot are ! Then into town for brunch with friends. One of them came with us for a walk up the beach with a little white scottie dog, Flynn ate a big bunch of something??? Bad dog!! Looked like old reeds, my friend thought she saw a dead bird wing in it... Man he crunched it up and keep picking it up and running whenever I got close to him to take it off him and he can run waaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than I can! Little sod. So have told him if he has tummy is upset later it's his own jolly fault!! Didn't seem to have put him off his lunch snack that he scarfed down when we got home. And he rolled in something for good measure! We called into the vet to pick up this months pills, after they picked me up off the floor to pay the bill we weighed him and he was put on 400g, so I was happy to see that, as he had lost it over a few months and I did not know why  But all good there. Occasional itchy episode but not much more than a normal dog having a scratch here and there. So all seems good in Flynny Land!!
Thanks for checking in on us, busy day but home now for the evening so bit of rest coming up... he is already snoozing on the couch! xxx

Are you feeling any better Trish? How are things in Trish Land? How in the world have you escaped jury duty? I have been called at least 10 times and have sat on a jury three times. A couple of times I have gotten notices in the summer. I always put off until after school starts. In the summer, I'm not paid for Jury Duty. It's a no-brainer.:D

Yep, I am getting there thanks Kathy :) Nothing a month off won't fix!! But not right now, maybe taking some time off next month. I have a trip to Sydney for work in August, then the Gold Coast in September so that's pretty lucky!! Want to fit Flynny's lipoma surgery in their somewhere so will take a week off then. Think it would be really nice to have a long time off. I have friends in Sydney so catching up with them for a few days when I go over. So that will be a nice break!

I am sure Flynny delights in beachy, salty, marinated in sea water morsels;) I sure hope his tummy is okay and everything is still fine in Flynnland.

So much for a nice relaxing lunch before getting back outside, sitting here reading the forum and a blardy stupid cat walked right into the lounge as have all the doors and windows open airing out the house in this lovely sunshine. I spotted it before Flynn thank goodness and it took off, but now he has done several circuits around the house to try track it down!! It was cute, a small tabby one! Flynn wants a pet :D:D
Hey Trish,
Wow, sounds like you've been very productive, good for you! Wish I could say the same. :o I have so much to do around here, it is just overwhelming. Unfortunately, I have let things go a bit due to my wrist issues. And since I didn't get very much done today, I'm going to have to get up very early tomorrow and work all day. Not my idea of a fun Sunday, but it must be done.
I hope Flynn's tummy is still doing okay after his delicacy on the beach. They can eat the most disgusting things. I'm sure if we had a beach around here that Jasper would be eating all the same stuff that Flynn does. I caught him going for a big blob of bird poop just yesterday. Thank goodness I grabbed him before he got a hold of it. Ewww!!
Jasper has a ton of lipomas all over too, so far the vet has not recommended that any of them need to be removed. However I have noticed that some of them are growing quite rapidly now for some reason, and are getting kind of big now. So I suppose the next time we go in, I'll have to see what she thinks. He has one in one of his armpits that is getting kind of big. They don't seem to be bothering him at this point, which is good. We had them all mapped out at one point a few months back, but I'm pretty sure he has a few more now that haven't been checked. :( They're mostly on his chest and belly area.
I'm so happy to read how well Flynn is doing, it always makes me feel so good to read that. :) Keep it up Flynny boy!!
Guess I better head to bed shortly, since there will be no sleeping in for me!
Hugs,
Tina and Jasper xo

Hi Trish!
In my experience with 4 dogs, I've never encountered lipomas. I think I"ll try to keep that record going! ;)
Why do they call it the "Gold Coast?" (pardon my ignorance.) Is it the color of the sand there? Is there sand there? Someone I know is going to take a cruise next month which starts in California and cruises around to Australia. It's a 6 week cruise and includes some airplane rides around parts of Australia. I don't know that I could stand being gone that long, but it sure does sound like a nice trip. I so want to get to Australia some day.
Things are slow and calm over here in Baileyland. I do need to get her by the vets regarding the itching. It just always seems to cost a couple of hundred dollars just to walk in the door over there, so I tend to put it off.
It's another hot, muggy day here and they're calling for a bunch of rain in the next two days. (I've GOT to replace my keyboard......my "x " is still awol. I have to misspell a word so spell check will correct it in order to get that key to appear.)
Anyway, they're calling for inches of rain. Belly rub to Flynny.
Hugs,
Susan

Hi all
Another good week for us YAY!! I bought Flynny a new snack, a venison bone, it had to fit in with his novel protein so it is venison :D
So here he is crunching away, not a very exciting video lol but boy does he love that bone. I am fearing he will crack his tooth or something, he has been gnawing for an hour!

We will look at doing that when I am on leave in a about 4 weeks. Have a few little trips but will be home a lot so want to do it then when I am about to look after him. I could totally see that one, Flynn all curled up in his blanket, being served room service LOL:D:D:D:D They give them their own bed so Flynn needs to bring his blankie.
Well, work trips are not really working so I would count that as time off too;) What a wonderful much needed break for you. Is Mom and Dad caring for our little boy? I love it that he goes to Nana and Papa's house and is spoiled rotten when you go away.
Hope you Saturday is perfect and the flowers are still coming up.

Yes they will be looking after him, just a few short trips, the longest is about 5 days. Plus my brother will be coming up to keep an eye on Mum and Dad as well and he is well used to pet medication regimes after looking after his cat with lymphoma on chemo for a couple of years. So he will be in good hands!
I think Koko should have a wee bell he can ding when he wants room service, so he doesn't have to get out of his comfy bed!! LOL I think it is so funny! I was reading about a dog gym yesterday, for those pets whose owners cannot exercise them  it is quite a business for pets!

The boy is just dandy!! Barking his head off this morning at the kids playing soccer who accidentally kick the ball into our fence. He thinks we are under attack and races out to give them a piece of his mind!! :) xxx
Flynny is doing his job.:):):):):) All good boys have to protect their home from strange things. Koko was howling like a beagle at the grass cutter the other day. Only problem is the guy had left 10 minutes earlier.:p
Have a super weekend!!!

Oh ack, did you have to mention grass cutting Addy... you just reminded me that is on the agenda this weekend!! Too cold right now though :D always some excuse!! Haha you were typing on Flynns thread while I was on Koko's! Great minds and all :D

Oh that is hilarious Koko screaming like a beagle (does Vicki know this????!! I bet she has some stories with Snug and Brandy) and Flynn carrying on at the fence. My what a riot you two are having.
Molly found her energy briefly and was all over the house just flying. Hubby is on the couch watching that show, where you watch people watching tv and one of them has a pug and he was loving it and trying to get molly to sit with him on the couch and watch with him like the pug was doing. Yea right.
Fun never stops!

Haha some noisy dogs on the forum, we will have to herd them all to one end to keep the peace for all the other pups!!
We have a vet visit scheduled this morning, so Mike and I can work out his surgery date for removing the lipomas, probably a couple of weeks away yet. Timely with my break from work coming up so I will be able to keep a close eye on him.
Trish
08-11-2014, 05:37 AM
Vet visit went well, Mike was very happy to see Flynny looking so well. He is booked in for his lipoma removal on 27th August, so a bit over two weeks away. Last time he had lipoma surgery a few years back he got the nickname Patchwork Puppy so I think that might be making a comeback! Mike wants him in early to check his BP is all good before proceeding. He has noted down in order of priority all his lipomas, he has about 15 , some over joints will be the first to go especially the one on his front shoulder that is making him limp on occasion. As long as Flynn is handling the surgery OK he will get as many as he can so hopefully we do not have to do this again. Fingers crossed that all goes well! xx

Well, poor Flynny...facing another surgery. He should have his own suite at the hospital by now, huh? :D Remind them to keep a good hold on instruments, etc. ;)
Squirt had many lipomas but none were interfering with her gait nor seemed to cause pain so we left them and just kept an eye on them...plus she was past surgery age when they grew larger. I hope all goes well for our tough little boy and this is the last surgery he ever has to face.
Hugs,
Leslie and the gang
We will mark the date on our calendar. I'm sure Dr. Mike will take extra care with our boy.
You can both come for a visit afterward. Doggie dining room service and the All Blacks in Chicago:D:D:D:D:D:D WOW!!!!!! Doesnt get much better than that!!

Hi - thanks everyone... I guess it will be your 26th in North America! Leslie, we sure have held off on this surgery. I was happy to leave them too, but they are affecting his mobility. Flynn seems to have his mind set on being around quite a bit longer, we thought if his latest scan was bad, or bloods going more off we would not do the surgery and focus on quality of life. But his monitoring tests have been going in the right direction :D:D and now over the last few months a limp when he gets up from resting has progressed to limping at the end of his walks. So that will continue to get worse if we do nothing. Mike said we either do it now while he is in pretty good health or never do it as he would not like to risk it later on if his health was deteriorating. I just wouldn't want anyone to think I am putting him through surgery unnecessarily  :)
Here is a video I did for Sharlene and Tracy a few weeks back when we were discussing lipomas so you can see what he is getting removed!

aww, I love seeing Flynny, lumps, bumps and all:):):):):):)
I think it is a solid plan, Trish, and it makes sense to me. Flynny is a testament to your care and planning and unbelievable medical care your teams provide him with.
I just have to make sure I have the right day;);) My 26th it is!!! Though I know you will be here to let us know you dropped him off bright and early. I hope his BP cooperates. Better it is done now than not being able to so later.

Those are some pretty big lumps alright. Probably the biggest I've seen, but then I haven't seen all that many either. But yea, my thought was, get those bad boys off if you can. :) Flynn loves his walks on the beach too much to have anything affecting that. So all fingers, toes, paws will be crossing and you know, major good wishes.

I hope you didn't misunderstand my post. I wasn't questioning your decision, just sharing our experience with lipomas. Squirt's never grew as large as Flynn's plus she was older than he. IF they had grown that much and had started to interfere with her gait, her time probably would have come much sooner as surgery was out of the question for her by then. ;)
Hi Trish,
I love that video of Flynny, he looks so cute. I love how he just looks right in the camera all close up! He does have some pretty big lipomas, I bet that one above his front leg does cause some problems for him. The big one on his side that you showed us, that looks pretty deep Trish, is it? It was hard to tell for sure from the video.
So happy to read how well he's doing overall, he really is a star. I completely agree with your plan for the surgery. I have the 26th marked on my calendar, now I just need to know the exact time. You know me Trish, I'm all about focusing all the positive energy at the right time. ;) We will definitely have all fingers, paws, and stubs crossed here as well. I am trying real hard to not be jealous about your upcoming time off. You so deserve it. Hopefully your work trips won't be too demanding. I wish we had that kind of time off here, I need to move to New Zealand I think! :D
I've been working on an update for Jasper, I better get that posted and then head to bed. I'm making a big effort to get to bed a little bit earlier since I've been so flipping tired lately. Have had way too much going on. Hope your week is going well and I really hope we can catch up a little bit on the weekend. Last weekend I was down in the dumps, and wasn't on the forum much, I was in pretty heavy duty worry mode. So looking forward to this weekend being better.
Hugs,

Thanks everyone!! Leslie, I just wanted to put the video up so you all could see what I was talking about with his lipomas. I really wish he did not need this, not looking forward to it and I hope he recovers quickly. Thanks for sharing that about Squirt :)
Tina, that side one is quite deep. It is big but Mike thinks it will come off easily enough. The one on his other side that I kind of circled is smaller but it sort of wraps around the end of the rib. There is another one on his hamstring that needs to come off too, I hope he gets them all! Not sure of the time yet, but I will be sure to let you know, all your good wishes have helped him get through much bigger surgeries than this one, so I am sure he will fly through. I bet he will be sore postop though, poor pup.
I am hanging out for my time off too, of course I have heaps to do before then. I might go in on the weekend.. maybe , they are swapping my office on Monday so I have to fit in a shift too... I might just dump all the boxes in there and sort it out when I get back. Only moving across a corridor LOL so not a big move! xxx

I will be keeping Flynn in my prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery.
My boys are pretty lumpy too it seems to be with beagles when they age, but so far my vet says leave them alone. I would think if they got big enough that it impaired them in some way, surgery would be the way to go,

Hi all
Yay I'm on holidays! In Sydney till tomorrow, having a fab time. Flynny sounds like he is having a lovely time at Mum and Dad's while I am away. Yep Addy he goes in Wednesday morning first thing, so will update his surgery time when I know more. I want to see how he is first, his tummy had been a wee bit off just before I left so he needs to be 100% before we proceed. Thanks for checking in, I have lunch with an old friend then shopping on the agenda for today, hope everyone doing good and will catchup when I get home xxxx

Hi all!! Ro!! So lovely to see you pop in :)
I got home tonight from Sydney, long day with delayed flight :p Thought Flynn looked pretty good, Mum and Dad said he has been quiet but OK. No vomiting, Dad not seen a poop on walk last couple of days. He goes in the bushes at their house too, bit hard to check on.
So I thought all good for surgery tomorrow, but then tonight after his dinner he vomited again!? So I am not sure what is up with that, he was hungry and wanted more food. No weight loss when I put him on the scale tonight, but I am not happy for him to have his lipoma surgery if he is still off colour.
I just send the vet a note that we have to postpone until he is A-OK! Hope he is not too annoyed at me, doing it at this late stage. But not good to go ahead with surgery if he is vomiting, don't want him to potentially aspirate and it would make recovery harder when his gut is playing up. So thanks for popping in to wish him well and I will let you know when we reschedule. xxx

Oh Trish, I agree with you -- since this is elective surgery, better to postpone until you can eliminate this worry from the mix. Hope you can get a good rest tonight, yourself!

08-26-2014, 06:29 PM
Hi :)
Spoke to Mike this morning. He said we definitely need to make sure he is right before the surgery. So no problem rescheduling.
He said it sounds like mild IBD flare, as problems with occasional vomit started couple of weeks back after that vegetarian tooth treat. He wants me to watch him closely next day or two and see how he goes and he could squeeze him in tomorrow or Friday or even early next week. If still problems then maybe abdo xray.
Flynn looks pretty interested in my bacon toast right now so hope he is feeling OK! I did not give his liver supplement as on odd occasions since he has been on that he has done a few upchucks, won't hurt not to give it a bit.
Will keep you posted! xx

Morning!! We are up and the alarm has not even gone off yet. Flynny has to be there in an hour, Mike was going to check his BP and bloods first to make sure all good to proceed so don't think surgery will be starting if it goes ahead for at least 2-3 hrs yet. Flynn is perky this morning, no more vomiting since the night I got home from Sydney. I am just going to poke his amlodipine down his throat as cannot give him any food or water. Poor boy!! Anytime now, we should know Flynn is awake? Waiting, uggh, good thing we do it together:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
You are really going to have to get Flynn a cow this Christmas or at least book a week at a Dude Ranch. Or do you have to fly to Australia for a Dude Ranch vaca? I can still see that pix of Flynn trying to kiss the cow:):):):):) That is our boy!!!

Why were you at work so long, blardy early start you had!!
Oh yep, love the cow pic too... funnily enough that was taken the day before his last liver op!! http://www.k9cushings.com/forum/album.php?albumid=559&pictureid=5808
Just done the flying to Australia thing lol... did not spot any cow ranches but probably the middle of Sydney not the best place to look!!
Yes, it should be anytime now... tap tap tap!

hummmmm, ya'll must call something else "TV dinners" over there if some are nice! I'm not real sure what most of the items in TV dinners here are even tho they LOOK like steak or potatoes or peas. :p
Trish
08-28-2014, 08:49 PM
Hmmm your right, we do not actually call them TV dinners lol, but I know what they are from watching American sit-coms in my youth... we always wanted a TV dinner even though we really did not know what they were! I am presuming they are just frozen meals of varying varieties... likes pastas, or macaroni cheese, indian curry.. that kind of thing
Mine was mashed potato, corn and two pieces of a chicken the size of a parakeet:p:p:p:p LOL works in a pinch though. Marie something brand starts with a 'c' I think, the last name. The only one I can tolerate:rolleyes:
Remember when the TV was black and white, no color and they invented those TV dinner tables? The mags would should pixes of us Americans in the early 50's was it? Sitting in front of the TV with our TV tables and Tv dinners?
LOL,I can so see that Norman Rockwell kind of photo now in my head:o
What people in other countries must of thought:o:o:o:o:o LOL
Yup, the good ole days

Oh I love the TV trays! My mom hated those trays because no one could eat at them properly. She couldn't set them correctly (ie like a "normal" table setting) plus one or several of us always ended up sending the whole kit-n-kaboodle flying when we stood up! :D

Just rang for update, front desk nurse went out back to ask and he is still in surgery. Everything going well and all vital signs are fine. She was not sure exactly what time they started when I asked.
Maybe they got a later start.Good news vitals are fine. It probably will not be much longer. I remember you telling me for Zoe, wake up, walk, pee, come home. That was my mantra back then.:):):):):)
Is Flynn expected to come home tonight?
Trish
08-28-2014, 09:16 PM
He sure is, no way is he staying in there. They have no one there overnight. Way back in 2011 when he did his big collapse, before they found the liver mass they wanted to keep him in... I said no way even back then.. took him home, with his IV line and all... hooked it up to the curtain rail and counted the drips all night! :p
Good, I don't blame you for not allowing him to stay, especially with no one there:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Some good pain meds and a lot of love from you, a pup could not ask for better post op care than that!!!!
And you have the weekend too, no way he can stay over the weekend either. I totally forgot it is Friday tomorrow, your Saturday
I have off all next week, can you believe it? I have not had more than 3 days off in a row in 3 years, which is why I put in 10 hours today:rolleyes: They are freaking out.

Another update. The nurse helping Mike just called. They have all the lipomas out, yay... but there are 10 or so little warty things there too. He has not taken them as he has now been under 2 hrs and he wants to wake up but she wanted to know if any of them are bothering him and they would do them now. I said none are bothering him so she said they would do them in 3 months or so with probably just light sedation. She going to ring back to let me know he woke up OK and I said I am happy to go sit with him this afternoon.
I'm glad you said to wait on the warty things if it has already been 2 hours.
Maybe another hour for Flynn to wake up? We always feel better when they are awake. I hope that leg will be better now and not bothering him.
What did this say for recovery? What is the post op plan?

I'm glad he was able to get all the lipomas! Flynn is bound to feel more comfortable now. Hopefully the next word you hear is that he's up and ready for his Mom!
Trish
08-28-2014, 09:39 PM
Yes, I will be pleased to get the call he is awake!!! They close at 5.30, but Mike always says they are open until no pets need them anymore :p So that's 5 hrs of recovery time! Got all his blankets washed and his bed ready in the lounge for him. He is not a very good patient at times  so I hope the Temgesic he was having with his pre med is long worn off. I have had a few sleepless nights with that drug on board!! We are planning on using Previcox and Tramadol for pain.

Yes, two very long hours. :o So glad Mike got all the lipomas. Now it's time to wake up Flynny boy!
Flynn a bad patient? I dont believe it:D:D;) That innocent, angel face pup? Never!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D
Ok, maybe once in awhile but he is entitled.:):):):):)
Wake up Flynn, mama and the crew are waiting!!!
He will probably zonk out most of the night, I would think.
Trish
08-28-2014, 10:17 PM
Ha, I hope he does not have too many bandages on.. he hates those!! He seems to fight against the pain meds instead of just going to sleep, then when he has stuff like Temgesic he gets a bit whacko.... doesn't knw what he wants to do etc.. inside, outside, no settling... maybe we just don't give him enough!
Budsters Mom
08-28-2014, 10:24 PM
It's a fine line with pain meds, isn't? You don't want to give him too much either. :o
Waiting is hard! So many concerned aunties who adore Flynn.
Waky uppy Flynny Boy!!!

What time is it there Trish? Is there anyone there with you, other than all of us?
Do they have medical marijuana for dogs?:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p
Ok, I must be getting punchy from working all those hour.:o:o:o:o:o
Probably that front one will be bandaged, I think. Maybe some of the drugs just make him feel weird. I don't do well with pain meds, either, some of them give me anxiety attacks. So I can totally relate Flynn.

I hope he doesn't have to wear the cone of shame. He would hate that!:o I know that our boy does not want to look like a desk lamp! lol
Maybe a T-shirt? Do you think he will leave his stitches alone?

Good timing Marianne, just had the call and yes he is awake and sitting up in his cage and appears to be quite comfortable. I have to ring at 4.30pm and if all good pick him up at 5pm. Have not spoken with Mike yet, but the nurse sounded happy with him.
Trish

Addy, that's funny about the medical marijuana. We do not even allow it for humans, there was a story in the news about this a couple of weeks back and people here were going to Colorado to get it!!!
He has not worn cone of shame for his last ops and he was ok, did nibble one end of a stitch but it did not come out.

Ok, I'm finally home and everybody has been outside and fed. Got caught up on Flynn, whew, this has been a busy place for the past few hours!! :D
Everything sounds great so far Trish, very pleased to read that Mike got all the lipomas and he is awake and all is going well. So relieved. :) :D Will be waiting to hear the report from Mike.
Hurrah!!!! Our boy is awake. High Five Flynn!!! AND he seems comfortable.:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
They are articles in our papers about medical marijuana helping people addicted to pain meds and possibly replacing those meds for people.
Not sure if that is hype or what.:confused::confused:
Guess you need to bring Flynn to Colorado!!!! I think they passed a law now for Wisconsin to have it but we dont have stores like Colorado.
YET:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D:D

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so glad he is awake and doing good! I am sure he will recover nice and fast :D:D **Paws Crossed** Can't wait to see him, even after his major surgery I was allowed in earlier than that! But I guess this place is smaller and they don't want a paranoid Mum there bugging them!! Want to speak to Mike as well and hear the guts of the surgery!
Trish

The medical marijuana story here was about a young girl with a seizure disorder and that is what calms her and works the best, but she cannot access it here. So the Mum was taking her to Colorado and the Dad was staying in NZ to work and keep the funds coming in
Hi Sharlene and Tina... time for the chocolate!! Well not for me, but you guys go ahead!! I was tempted to buy Godiva chocolates that I saw in Duty Free in Sydney but resisted!
