I didn't know where to post this, but I'm feeling really sad for all of you who have lost your precious loved ones these past few days. I hope you can find some comfort - maybe even joy - in remembering all the good times you had together.

Tears and heartaches of our family here have echoed around the world. When a new baby comes to us, that baby and it's parent(s) are immediately taken in as part of this family and we feel each loss deeply, individually and as a group. Their lives become part of the k9cushing's story forever, leaving their mark on each of us.
Lady's Mom, your post tells that story so simply - even though most of us have never met or seen each other, we still feel the pain and share in the sorrow of our family when a loss occurs. There is great power in this connection we have. The prayers we send, the support we offer, the candles we light, and the words we say create an energy that all can tap into and hold onto. This combined positive energy gives us the strength to go on. I know from my own experiences, that without my family at k9c the pain of my own losses would be unbearable.
Bless you for posting this, honey. With folks like you who understand and who reach out in sympathy, this family will continue to grow closer.
One of my favorite authors, Dean Koontz, wrote a couple of paragraphs in The Darkest Evening of the Year that give me great comfort. I hope they will you and others who are feeling the pain of our recent losses.
“Because God is never cruel, there is a reason for all things. We must know the pain of loss; because if we never knew it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self-interest. The terrible pain of loss teaches humility to our prideful kind, has the power to soften uncaring hearts, to make a better person of a good one.”
“Dog’s lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with (them), never fail to share (their) joy or delight in (their) innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware it comes with an unbearable price. Maybe loving dogs is a way we do penance for all the other illusions we allow ourselves and for the mistakes we make because of those illusions.”

Thank you so much for the wonderful words. It warms my heart to know that you cared about my baby even though you never met her. My heart is aching right now and my only hope is that someday I can help someone else feel the love that I'm feeling from you guys today.
I wish I could put my arms around all of you and give you a big hug!

You just did, Sugarmomma, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the warmth of that big hug. Thank you, I needed that. :)
Leslie, thank you so much for the beautiful words that so eloquently and accurately describe the bonds that tie us here at k9c. My heart is not only with all of you who have lost your furbabies but also with those who are struggling with the uncertainty of a diagnosis or concerns with treatment. We are here for you no matter what.
We laugh together, we cry together, we feel the joy and pain together. For one person, alone, I think it would be unbearable. So together we face the journey, we travel together through good times and bad, all the ups and downs and roller coaster rides. Together we offer love and support and though we may be strangers physically, we know each other better than most know us.
For each sadness we must look forward for the joy, remembering the past, honoring those we have lost, never forgetting, always remembering, always in our hearts. Continue to look for the joy in their honor, celebrate each victory, no matter how small, shout it to the world.
Toegther we find our strength, our courage and our will to never let Cushings beat us.
love,
addy

Each and every one of the pups who have passed on hold a very special place in my heart. I have been here since the old eboard (way back when in 2003) and it is never easy when a pup passes. We all feel this loss and the pain. In my heart I know they are still with us; I know my Mytilda and Clancy are.
We are in this together.
Terry (always Mytilda and Clancy's mom)
