I love Pill pockets and for sure Truffa & Nina, with or without a pill in them just ADORE THEM. Giving them any pill is totally enjoyable, but gosh are they expensive!!!, specially when you have to give them so many every day. I started using like a bag (30 units) every 15 days, and after that, 1 big pill pocket- the capsule presentation- is carefully molded to wrap the pills for Truffa for one day (and of course Nina also receives little pieces of the same pill pocket). So now each bag can be stretched up to 25-30 days at the most.

But today I found something that I will be willing to try, and I thought that you guys would be interested also. I purchased today the “Flavor Doh for Dogs”, I’ll let you know how it works.

Here are other options, one of them with flavors that specially would appeal dogs and others for cats :

My dogs like fruits in general so I think gel flavored capsules would be another good option:

Hi,
When I had to give our new pup pills and couldn't use peanut butter, because she is allergic to it, the vet suggested mini marshmallows. They worked wonderfully. You just peel it apart halfway put the pill in, put it back together and it works great.

Thank you Christy, the tip of the mini marshmallows is the first time I've heard about it, sounds delicious and easy.

My dogs are not picky at all and not allergic to peanut, and I have tried cheese, cream cheese (low fat), peanut butter, unsweetened apple sauce, and putting the pills on newton's figs.......... But Truffa is quite clever and she learned all my tricks and managed a way to taste the cheese or whatever and spit it out the pill, but since the pill pockets we became addicted to them, and everything that I hide in them pass all the tests!!!! and gulp into her tummy.

And cause I feel incapable of giving something to Truffa and nothing to Nina, then the poor pill pocket has to be split in thousand pieces.

I am excited about the Doggie Doh Sharon. I''ll let you know how it works. It also appears to be more healthy-wise than the pill pockets, will see.

I too am interested in how the Flavor Doh works.

I used Pill Pockets for Winnie's trilo. Then I used it for all of McGill's pills when he got tired of Cheddar Cheese spread. Now he is tired of Pill Pockets and won't eat them so it is back to Cheddar Cheese spread which he will eat now.

I also used the trick of buying the biggest Pill Pocket size, then breaking each pocket into four pieces and molding the 1/4 of a Pill Pocket around a pill. I found that if I put a pill in a single Pill Pocket, it was too much and he would try to chew it instead of swallowing it whole.

Poor Pebbles when she was alive took 5 pills at a time. I just opened her mouth and put a pill in. She was good when I did this. Didn't need to hide the pills/ But she was pretty laid back.

How did the Dog Doh work? I may get some. It sounds great. Does your dog like it?

Hi everybody, I've got the Flavor Doh, and we just ran a little experiment : side by side with the pill pockets, Truffa & Nina submerged their noses into the Flavor Doh.

It cost me $6.99 + Ship around $4.5. Pill Pockets (big size 224 grams) cost me between $8.99 & $10.99, every 15 days. Although the weight on their packages is almost the same (half pound), the Flavor doh is more compact, like pure dough.

At first it appeared very dry and "sandy" texture, but when you take a piece and give it form with your warm hands, it becomes softer, not as chewy feeling as the Pill pockets, but quite malleable.

I still have two and a half bags of Pill pockets left, so when we are done, we will start the Flavor Doh to see how long it lasts. I tokk some pictures so you all have a better idea of this product.

Marcela,

Those were great pictures you took. The Flavor Doh looks like peanut butter, also looks like, was that Truffa or Nina, really liked it too :D

I might have to invest in some of the Flavor Doh, Harley's been behaving like a bad boy with taking his melatonin capsule, no matter what I put it in he seems to be able to find it and spit it out  little fart :D

Again, thanks for the pictures and the information and let us know how it goes.
