My dog's name is Bosco (obviously!). He has pseudo cushings. His real problem is pannus, an eye disorder that requires lifelong steroid therapy. Although his eye doctor says it is unlikely that it is his medication that is causing his syptoms I am convinced it is. He is losing fur and has some bald spots.

I have to give him his eyedrops or his vision will be affected but it is making his coat reddish and thin. I guess I would just like to hear from other people who might have a similar situation.

Hi and welcome to you and Bosco!

Any medicine that has a synthetic Corticosteroid, whether it be in the form of drops, creams, oral, or intravenously will cause Iatrogenic (Steroid Induced) Cushing's in a dog when given over a period of time.

Iatrogenic Cushing's can be reversed when the steroids are stopped slowly. As in your sweet furbaby's case, I see that this medicine is much needed and probably can not be stopped.

I was wondering if you could tell us more about Bosco, such as his weight, any other medicines/supplements/herbs that Bosco is taking and if you could get copies of any tests that were done and post the abnormalities here.

We are here to help in any way we can so please do not hesitate to ask any and all questions.

Love and hugs,
Lori
