This is the latest posting on the facebook page of LT Joshua Magder, USN (our younger son) who has been flying MEDEVAC in Iraq since May. Mom and Dad are much relieved he is coming home. The whole family eagerly awaits his arrival at LAX tomorrow. Thank you God. :):)
"Literally one of the LAST US military members to leave Iraq in a flight of three, and home-bound in a few hours... Once outside Kuwaiti Airpsace... cocktails? 4.5 hours in Germany?... trouble to be found."(eyes rolling are Mom's reaction!)

Dear Carrol,
OMG, I can understand your feelings of anticipation, joy and most of all relief. And the feelings of awe and happiness will be multiplied by a million when you see your son walking U.S. soil safe and sound.
Again, from my military family to yours, I can be nothing but more than excited for all of you, and will be thinking of you holding your son in your arms. Sooooooo awesome! And yes, THANK GOD indeed.
I wish you all a blissful day tomorrow.
Tight hugs and love...Jeanette and family:)

Dearest Susan,
Yes, he is tall -6'! Less than 3 hours to go. He told us not to meet him at the airport as he is renting a car there. He will then drive to my daughter's home where he will spend a couple of days and nights getting to know his niece whom he last saw when she was not quite 2 (she will be 3 in February). He will then spend a couple of days and nights at my older son's place playing catch up. All the kids will then come home to us in the desert. Josh will stay with us for a week then travel visiting friends and return here for his last weekend before going back to Guam. In the midst of all of this my daughter will probably give birth to her second baby. Theoretically, because I am working, I would not get to see him until Friday but am driving in tomorrow, with my husband, as a surprise to attend a party at my daughter's house.
I'll tell you all about Wally - (wait until you hear!) a little later. Time for work!
Love, Carrol

Oh, Carrol, I am so excited for you and your family! The surprise visit will be wonderful and such a happy time for all, I'm sure.
I pray your son will remain home for the rest of his life, that his services are never again called upon.
Many hugs,
Leslie

Thanks, Leslie! After a month's leave here, he is headed back to Guam where he is stationed for another year - probably to do search and rescue - if he is not deployed by then. After that he, hopefully, will be back in the US for a while(we hope).
