I have just registered with this site today and wanted to do a basic introduction of my best friend, Rosco. He is 8-years old, lab shepard mix that I rescued and has just recently been diagnosed with cushings disease. I live in North Carolina at the coast and am presently taking Rosco to the vet once a month for blood work up so we can find a balance of meds vs. symptoms. The vet has Rosco on Trilostane, 2.1 ml daily. We're on our 5th blood work up in 10-weeks at $203.00 a pop. Does it normally take this long to find a tolerance level?

Corky and I want to welcome you and Rosco.
I haven't used liquid Trilo, so I'm not sure what the liquid dosage is.
Corky's been taking Trilo capsules for just about 21 months now. He started at 20mg once a day, which was just about 1mg per pound, and he is now taking 60mg a day with TID of 20 mg three times daily. Due to his adrenal tumor, his dosage has had to be increased several times, but it hasn't been monthly.
With the initial dose of Trilostane, a stim test is done 10-14 later, and then done again at 30 days. If the dosage has to be increased, a stim test is done in 30 days. If the dosage doesn't have to be increased, a stim test is done in 3 months, unless clinical signs start returning.
If you've had to do a test 5 times in 10 weeks, that's a test every two weeks, which doesn't seem right. I hope you are working with a vet that is experienced in treating cushings. Is Rosco still showing clinical signs?
It would help us if you could post the tests that were done and the test results.
Terri
Hi and Welcome from me and my pup Zoe.
Zoe just started Vetoryl (Trilostane) and had an ACTH stim at 10 days and will have another at 30 days.
It appears that you have done quite a bit of testing but perhaps some of those tests were diagnostic?
As Terri mentioned, it helps to give us the test results.
Glad you found us. We are here for however we may be able to help.
Hugs,
Addy

Thank you Andy. Vet throws so many numbers at me that I sometimes have to stop him for a re-explain.
