Hi: I have a seven year old poodle/maltese cross. He was dianosed with Cushings approximately 3 months ago when he had a skin condition that would not heal. He has been on trilostane for 3 months now and was tested again yesterday and has show no improvement. He has been taking 30 mg of trilostan, which should be more than adequate for his weight. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with trilostane that may be helpful. Thank you.

Hi and welcome! Could you tell us more about your precious boy, like how much does he weigh and is he on any other herbs, supplements or medicines besides the Vetoryl? What symptoms led you or your vet to test your boy for Cushing's in the first place?
Could you post his ACTH stim test results here with their time-lines. Was there a Chemistry/CBC blood panel done? If so, could you post anything that is marked abnormal with the reference ranges and units of measurements.
Please know we are here for you and your sweet boy and will help in any way we can.
Love and hugs,
Lori

Hi and welcome to you and Baxter.
Lori has gotten you off to a good start but I have more questions, which shouldn't surprise anyone. :D
You mentioned that the cushing's diagnosis was pursued because of a chronic skin condition that would not heal. Did your vet do the necessary testing, such as a punch biopsy, to diagnose the skin problem? What medication, oral or topical, was Baxter taking for this problem? Was this the only symptom Baxter had or did he have other cushing's signs like a voracious appetite, increase in drinking and peeing, panting, muscle weakness?
When you say that after the last test, Baxter showed no improvement, are you talking about his skin problem or do you mean that the Trilostane has not lowered his cortisol levels?
Can you please round up all of the tests that were done to diagnose Baxter, as well as the acth stimulations tests that were done after starting treatment and post all of the results for us? Lori has requested the abnormal blood values but I'd also be interested in abdominal ultrasound findings, any urinalysis showing the urine specific gravity, Low Dose Dex Suppression test (LDDS) results and anything else you may have.
Sorry for all the questions and requests but the more information you can provide about your sweet boy, the more meaningful feedback we are able to provide.

Corky and I also want to welcome you and Baxter.
As others have said, it would really help us if you could give us more information on Baxter.
You have found a wonderful group of very caring and supportive people, who have a great deal of experience and a wealth of knowledge. They have really helped Corky and me.
