Hi everyone, I haven't been here for quite a while, although I do check in just in case I might be able to help. I had a bichon named Nikki, who died at the age of 15, who was diagnosed with cushings at the age of 14. Anyway, it took a year before I was ready for another dog. So last week I got a havanese puppy who is the cutest thing ever. I have posted pictures of her, and her name is Sophie.I had forgotten the pure joy of having a dog. For anyone who has recently lost their precious dog, wait until you're ready, but don't miss out on having the greatest animal that God ever created. Sophie makes me laugh so much every day.

Hello Sharon, wonderful news!! I am so happy that you were able to do this again - there is no joy quite like that of a new puppy!! I have a Havanese - Desi although I didn't get her till she was 3 and she is now 5 she is still quite puppy like. I think Havanese get the most joy out of making us laugh . . .
Congratulations!!

She is just beautiful.
I agree that having a dog is one of the greatest joys we can have. We are all different in how long it takes before we are ready to start again after a loss and I am glad you are ready now.

Oh Sophie is too precious for words! Havenese are becoming real popular it seems. A woman I used to work with got a little Havenese boy last year; she was absolutely taken with that dog. She doted on him and he loved his mom. She left my place a few months back; hope they are doing AOK.
Good luck w/Sophie; it is hard to start over, but most of us do at some point. The puppy stage is almost always the most fun....

How adorable. I am so glad you took the plunge! It took me a while after the first time, I have to admit. I was almost comatose after I lost my first bichon Friskie. Don't even ask me about the stories of them calling "FRISKIE PETER" over the loudspeaker at the groomer, etc. It was always an embarassing event. Anyway, I ended up with 5 bichons after that. Not just one. :p I got, LUCKY PETER.
Oh, and just a little tidbit for bichon lovers....don't get "BICHONZ" on your license plate. Some people just will not understand. lol
I am glad you are exploding with joy with your new little one!!
Lots of love,
Heidi
