Carrol, nobody in their right mind has a convertible in Rancho Mirage....in the summer anyway. :p

At least when they take the bull for a ride in the car like we do with the dogs--they can hang their head out the window without catching their horns on something. Was the bull's tongue handing out in the wind with a big grin???:D:D

LMAO!! I'd be tempted to take one of the horses for a ride but not too sure about a cow....:p

Very funny :D:D:D:D

But I shouldn't laugh, it was about 10 years ago when I lived in Chandler and found a pony walking alongside the freeway I-10 and Queen Creek Rd.

I pulled over and used a long bungee cord to put around her neck to keep him from crossing the freeway to protect him and any oncoming cars. I called the rescue I volunteered for and they called animal control. Well after about 2 hours of holding this horse, I thought I might be able to get the horse into my car, it was a Sebring convertable. Luckily I had second thoughts, I was afraid if I did get her in there, he might jump out and hurt himself or me.

Called my wife and told her I found a pony, can I bring it home? You can imagine the questions she had for me.....:D:D Her final response was the HOA probably wouldn't allow me to have a pony. :( Anyway it was getting cold so I asked her to bring me a jacket, when she arrived, she told me it wasn't a horse but a large mule:confused: (hey what do I know, I was always a city boy) finally after almost 4 hours of standing by the side of the freeway, animal control showed up and took my pony away. She had a federal government tag sewn into her tail, turns out she was set free to roam the desert as so many horses and mules are here in Arizona. I named her Sally after Mustang Sally, turns out she was Mule Sally.:o I miss her but I am sure she was happy to be running free in the desert again.

Every once in a while I would take Patty's 4 wheel drive and go out in the desert in hopes I would see her again. I've seen many but don't know if she was one of them.

What a GREAT story, John! Laughed and had to share with my sister-in-law who is still laughing about Mule Sally! :D

We used to take our horse in the car...honestly.

When I say horse I mean little Shetland pony.:D My sister and I shared a small pony when we were growing up and we had a largish car that you could remove the back seat.

Dad could drive my sister and I to the river (mum had to stay home) and our little pony would just walk into the back of the car.

It seems strange now but back then it was the most natural thing to do.

Isn't it amazing how a little humor can bring back sweet memories, plus we get to learn a little more about each other. John, you had me roaring this morning when I read about your horse turned mule story but I wasn't surprised that you stood fast in protecting Sally no matter how long it took. Jenny, who would have thought that you once had a pony that rode around in the backseat like that's perfectly normal. :D Then again, a pony is smaller than most of the members of my family so a pony would be a lot kinder to my suspension. :D;)

You're right Glynda,

Those long forgotten memories are still sweet when finally thought of. Jet (yes she was black) was the name of our first pony and there were many more after her but it was the start of my love for horses. My sister and I had the same opportunities but she chose sport and didn't want much to do with the horses.

It also makes me think of my father who has been gone for 8 years now and remember what a wonderful man and great role model he was.
