View Full Version : Rozee on her new Wheels (Rozee was laid to rest)

Hi All,
Just wanted to share with my friends and ask for some prayers and healing thoughts for our Rozee.
As some of you may know we just moved from TN to AZ and into our new home last Saturday after being on the road for 7 weeks. In the last hour of being in the motor home, Rozee took a tumble and had to go to the vet. Vet took x-rays and did the standard manipulations of her knees. Felt it was a bad sprain in her left knee but also dx'd luxating patella's :( Put her on metacam and said she should be alright in a week or so. We have been carrying her everywhere, to eat, to do her business just trying to reduce the strain on her.
Today I noticed she couldn't get up so rushed to pick her up and took her again to the vet. Different vet, same practice. He did the manipulations. He said she had damaged the ligaments in her right knee and would need surgery. My reply was I was not willing to take that risk as she is 15 years old and have been through this with my Roxee girl but only on one knee. Roxee was much younger.
Now trying to teach her to go potty with a towel to support her rear end. She does not like it but finally peed but I know she needs to poop. :(
She is now on metacam, 10 mg tramadol, and 500 mg methocarbamol.
Can't believe this has happened, we don't let her jump up or do stairs because of her age and stature. I was just bragging on her that she didn't act like a 15 year old, was always ahead of the pack, loved to play and run, pick on LittleBit, Mickee and Kittee. Now this:mad: She just loves to play with her toys and always goes to her basket of toys to bring me one, and if I ignore her, she gets very vocal. It's a nightly ritual. Pattee and I just feel horrible for her and are mad at ourselves.
So some healing thoughts and prayers for a quick non surgical recovery would be appreciated.
Thanks all.

John, I'm so sorry to hear this. Please don't be mad at yourselves. Accidents do happen, and you really aren't to blame. I'm sending healing thoughts and prayers that Rozee will heal without having to have surgery. The Corkster and I are keeping everythig crossed that surgery won't be necessary.

John,
Definitely sending mega healing thoughts and prayers for Rozee.
She will get used to getting "help" with the potty thing!!! Went through that with Sachi. Several times she wouldn't go until I gave up, brought her in and laid her on her blankets - then a flood!!
Another idea, instead of the towel, after her surgery, I trimmed down a reuable grocery bag and lined it with flannel. They have longer handles (so you don't have to stoop) and are much thinner for the ones that are rather low to the ground.

Prayers coming your way from us for sweet Rozee, and some for you and Pattee too. Don't beat yourselves up, just focus on the positive. Not easy, I know, but Rozee doesn't want you to blame yourselves.
We love you,

Thanks everyone, Mary Anne, great idea! We do have those reusable grocery bags.
From what I have been reading, she will pretty much be incapacitated for at least 8 weeks and probably longer. Since she can not even stand on her own, I think we are going to order some wheels for her from Eddie's Wheels. They say it's a 2 week delivery.
Thanks again, love you guys :)

Ah John, I am just now reading this. Soooooooo sorry. You and Rozee are in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping for a real speedy recovery. It is so easy for this to happen - Annie always tries to jump out of the SUV and it is just too far. I have to be quick and pay attention so I can totally see how this happened. Hang in there and do keep us updated. Hugs, Kim and Annie

John,
I know the feeling of beating yourself up over these types of things, but you cannot. We do our best to protect our babies at all times, but we cannot possibly catch every misstep... we are only human. I am positive that Rozee isn't upset with her humans one bit. She's likely annoyed at her own body and a bit frustrated that she can't do things the way she wants. I always feel bad that you can't tell a dog (or cat or horse etc) that their bodies grow older and weaker, even though their spirits don't.
Anyway... sending healing thoughts her way. She's obviously a tough little girl and she may surprise you!! PLEASE try not to let the guilt eat you up. Enjoy the strong little girl you love.

Aw John - I too am sending the positive vibes and healing prayers for Rozee. I recall when Zo would do something similar to herself and, like you, I'd go thru the 'Why did I let that happen' . . . but truth is, these things will and do happen, regardless of how closely we watch them. In very senior dogs, it's really unavoidable. Sue

Hi John!
Accidents are called "accidents" because that is what they are. Unfortunately these things happen beyond our control. You did nothing wrong. Concentrate on the here and now, getting that precious baby through the next 8 weeks. It sounds like a long way off but it will pass.
All our love, prayers and white light go out to beautiful Rozee and her family. Hang in there. With all the positive energy coming your way from everyone here, Rozee cannot help but be on her way to healing!

Thank you everyone for your kindness. She's never been crated in her 15 years, we tried it yesterday and she hated it. She's a screamer! So we decided that one of us will be here with her at all times.
Confirmed our order with Eddie's Wheels today, went through the measurement procedure 3 times, took pictures with a yardstick across and around Rozee numerous times.
They started on it today and said it will ship in about 2 weeks. Now waiting impatiently. :(

Will be waiting impatiently with you. Hopefully Rozee will take to her new cart right away. I will tell you that rear wheel carts are a lot easier for dogs to adapt to so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Rozee will be like Willa and start motoring around right away. Be sure to have your video camera ready cuz I want to watch her maiden voyage in her new wheels.
Did I mention that we have two more little Chi's with no front legs that need front wheel carts too? We haven't ordered yet because we need to raise the money first. Both are boys, Forrest and Kiwi, taken to the shelter by kids who told our contact that their mom wanted them euthanized. Our contact called us and secretly smuggled them out the back door to us. It seems these kids' Mom was getting tired of taking care of deformed puppies and didn't know why her dog kept having two legged babies. Can you say disgusting scumbag???

Thanks for asking :)
Rozee is confined to a small playpen for now. Playpen is one of those "Play and Pack" with wheels, so she gets wheeled around to which ever room Pattee is trying to unpack or the kitchen when she is cooking. She feels special and of course she is. ;) When I'm in the house or on the computer like now, she is lays next to me, she wouldn't have it any other way.;)
We are anxiously waiting for her wheels to arrive. Hope she only needs to use them for a 8 to 12 weeks to keep the pressure off her hind legs.
Still using the towel to support her hiney when she needs to do her business. She doesn't like it  but is starting to get used to it.

Thanks for the update on Miss Rozee. I have every faith that she will recover from this. Did the Doc mention anything about rehab after she comes off the "wheels" or will you just cross that bridge when you come to it? I am so sorry you had this to go through but am waiting for the posting (no matter how long it takes) that tells us she is back on 4 wheel drive. Thanks :)
Rozee is in confinement :( and she hates it! She has never been confined in 15 years. She is spoiled rotten but we already know that :o
She is okay in the "Play and Pack" playpen until I come in or sit on the couch to get on my computer. Then she whines like a little girl until I pick her up and let her sit next to me on the couch. Then she is perfectly content. I don't dare go into the kitchen without her as she is afraid she will miss out on one of Pattee's homemade treats:eek: LittleBit has once again been a blessing,:) she is willing to get in the playpen with Rozee and seems to give her a calming effect and they both sleep almost on top of each other.:) It is so cute.
I can't tell if she is in any pain and doesn't act like it, so have started cutting back on her pain meds. Think I will finish out the week with her Metacam (anti-inflammatory) I do give her a melatonin in the late afternoon to relax her and lower her anxiety level. She really wants to play and we both miss our nightly ritual of running through the house then RV and now house again to be the first to get one of her favorite toys and play keep away. Even LittleBit learned to get involved and play our game. :):)
Wheels should be shipping early next week. I think that will help her more than mommy and daddy supporting her with a towel. Then it will be on to 12 to 15 weeks of wheels, then and US to check her knees for improvement and possibly a knee brace recommended by our vet at k9braces.com. She seems to want to stand on her left leg but we are discouraging her from doing so. Needs more time to heal.
The wheels we ordered have a special balance kit option that should help keep the brunt of the weight off her front legs as we don't want to over burden her front legs. Will post pics when we get her into her new wheels.
She's a pretty tough girl at 15 but I think she's only admitting to being 9 years old :p;):)

What amazing parents this sweet girl has! :) Rozee will be just fine with the two of you at her side - of this, there is no question.
Can't wait to see the wheels! This may be an option for Squirt on down the road so we are curious. ;) She says to tell Rozee, "The key to being confined is to look as pitiful as possible at all times...someone will usually take you out and hold you a bit.":p
Keep up the good work!

Any chance that you can let her swim some place or even take her to hydrotherapy? That would be tremendously helpful for her injury and strengthen her muscles without putting weigth on her leg :)
And also, you can do some calm, inside the playpen games with her. That will help her relax and will make for some quality time together :) For example, you could take three glasses/cups/boxes and hide a treat underneath one of them. Let her "sniff" out under wich one the treat is hiding ;) Or use a hankerchief or one of her toys if you don't want to use treats (or else feed her a bit less during mealtime so the extra treats won't be "extra")
All our best,
Saskia and Yunah :)

Hi Saskia,
Actually they just started excavating today for Rozee's pool. One of my requirements for moving back to Arizona was for a pool for my pups and me of course.;) Rozee loves or loved to swim. I put her and Roxee in our pool when they were puppies so they would learn how to get out in case they ever fell in. They have been aqua pups ever since. :) Vet wanted us to wait about 3 weeks before we do any aqua exercise, pool "should" be done in about a month. In the meantime I have been massaging her thighs and using a warm heating pad as the vet said it would help increase the blood flow which in turn will speed up her healing process. In the meantime, I may have to look into a local aqua therapy center for her.
I will try some calming games with her this evening, it will probably help me more than her. :o but it should be fun. Thank you, your input is always respectfully welcome. :)
BTW...how is your foot healing up?
SasAndYunah
07-23-2010, 04:17 PM
Hehehehe, helping you is good too :D Great to hear you're going to have your very own pool. I may drop by and use it for some hydrotherapy myself :p Foot is okay, still the periostitis bothering me a lot :( But hey, it will pass, like everything passes ;)
Give Rozee some hugs from Holland,
Sas and Yunah :)

Acupuncture IS a great suggestion! We started it in October 07 and noticed vast improvement in his energy, mobility, and overall comfort within 4 treatments.
I've since started acupuncture for myself (5 treatments down) and I have to say, Niko wasn't fakin' it! :)

We have used acupuncture with Miss Chloe & Mr Sparky with great success. Sparky hurt his back but, after treatment, was able to go back to agility classes. Miss Chloe's mobility increased and she didn't appear to be in pain. Also, she was the hit of the waiting room as she went to a "human" chiropractor who has trained to be an animal acupuncturist. She was the only 4 legged patient in the room and everyone was captivated by her. She also liked the massages she got after her treatments;)

Hi all,
Rozee's new wheels arrived yesterday :D She took to her wheels pretty quick and was excited with her new found freedom. After almost a month of rest, no playing or chasing toys or chasing LittleBit :p She is now able to get around. :D
She has already learned to back up when stuck, go and get her own drink of water, and now allowed to play with her new toy while on the floor and not confined to a play pen. :D
Short video (sorry for the lousy quality but it was exciting) within less than 5 minutes of first trying out her wheels.

Are the wheels adjustable for whether a dog has some use of their legs or whether their back legs don't work at all? (ie can the same wheels be used in either case?) Just curious.

She is pretty happy with her renewed freedom. Still learning to back up when she gets stuck but she's a trooper. Trying not to over do it until she can build up her strength again. Don't want to disable her front legs by overusing them to quickly.
Wheels are slightly adjustable in height to adjust the amount of weight she can place on her hind legs. Also an adjustment for balance so not too much weight is carried by her front legs. If a dog can't use it's hind legs, there are stirrup options to keep the top of the paws from dragging the ground.
She had a rollover accident  this morning because I didn't put the chest strap on right. :o She's good, the airbags didn't go off.:D

Rozee on Wheels Day 2
She is doing well on wheels, at the end of the video, she was trying to get to her water in the doggy cushion. We removed the pillow inside the cushion and that was her feeding and drinking spot. We would put her in there and she knew to stay and not get up to try to walk around. Guess I will be giving Mickee back his cushion soon.:p Not to worry, Mickee, Littlebit and Rozee have plenty of cushion's and blankets all around the house. :)
I may have to paint flames on the side of her wheels and give her a NASCAR number. :D

Rozee's videos are awesome. I can't believe how quickly she is adapting to her new wheels. She'll be tearing up the place in no time.
We just ordered another front wheel cart for one of our two legged Chihuahuas Both born without front legs. I hope they do as well as Rozee but front wheel carts are a lot more difficult to master. You should call Leslie at Eddie's Wheels and ask her if she'll send you an Eddie's Wheels flag for Rozee's cart. It's free advertising for them and they look really cool.

Thanks,
She is doing better everyday :D I now take her out on the sidewalk / street in the evenings when the pavement cools down. She is so very happy to get out and explore, at 15 years old, I can hardly keep up with her. We have been slowly working up her time in the wheels so she can build up her strength in her front legs and doesn't over exert herself. We are also now spending more time playing in the floor with her favorite toys. I think she is really happy that she can follow Mickee and LittleBit around without feeling like she is left out, but don't worry, if she feels left behind, she gets very vocal and let's us know. ;)
Bling? I will be putting some bling on her wheels, being a NASCAR fan I wanted to go in that direction but Pattee gives me the "look"....but she's a girl  so for now, I'm keeping the wheels light weight before adding some pink girlie things. :o

Thanks again everybody,
Rozee is doing pretty well. She is getting around great and has become possessive of her cart. If the cat get's to close, she gives her a growl or a bark. I think the cat is interested in the Bling I put on her cart. Pictures to follow soon.
Rozee went swimming today in "her" pool. First time since we left Arizona 4 years ago. I have been saving her favorite pool ball for 4 years now knowing we would return back to AZ eventually. As soon as I got her in the pool and pulled out the ball, she was like a crazy women. We played fetch in the pool for a little while. It's the same ball in my album with Roxee and Rozee swimming. The look on her face was priceless :D She just loved it, afterward's we brought her in the house and I went in the pool...she would not have any part of it. There is no way I can go swimming without her:D She became very vocal and demanded to be back in the pool. It was a bittersweet moment as I remembered Roxee and Rozee racing across the pool to fetch a ball. :(:) It's all good, I know Roxee didn't cross the Rainbow Bridge, she swam under it. :)

Rozee and a little bit of BLING. Trying to keep it as light as possible. She is doing great on her wheels and is able to get up the sloped curbs now:) and does a little off roading into the vacant lots in our neighborhood.:) Have to keep her on a leash now as she feels the freedom to go where she wants. If she gets stuck, she just looks at me and knows I’ll get her free.

This one is just Rozee swimming and chasing her ball in the pool again. She enjoys playing in the pool.

This one you might like. I took LittleBit into the pool, like most, she just wanted out but if you listen in the background, Rozee is pretty PO’d that she isn’t in the pool and was pretty much demanding to get back in. I obliged and took her back into the pool again. There is just no swimming allowed unless she is part of it. :p:):D

It's been a while since I have updated Rozee's thread and reading Addy's thread reminded me to update. Some of my FB friends have already seen this video but just wanted to let you all know that Patty and I got an early Christmas present. After 21 weeks of conservative management with daily walks in her wheel chair and swimming....Rozee can now walk again. :D:D:D
For some of you that wonder why we went the CM route... Rozee is 15 1/2 years old and has been anesthetized twice in the 6 months previous to injuring both her knees. If she were a few years younger, we would have opted for the knee surgery.
So a special Thank You shoutout to Leslie for passing on the information to Pattee for Conservative Management and to Glynda for the information on Eddie's Wheels for pets.
My Christmas Magic with tears of happiness for our Rozee :)

OMG, John, I am sitting here with my mouth open - I cannot believe what I just saw and I am a nursing instructor in a facility that does a LOT of rehab. You are incredible and that precious little bundle, Rozee, well, what can I say. It doesn't come cuter than that! Bless you for your strength, patience and loving care, Dad. Have a wonderful holiday season and a new year that only brings good things your way. You deserve it.

Hi Carrol,
Rozee is doing great...thanks for asking. She has explored every inch of the new house. She hurt herself the first day we moved in (July 10) so has been confined to wherever the wheel chair will go or on the couch next to me. She wouldn't have anything to do with being caged even though the cage covers about 15 square feet. So it's now a freedom she is really enjoying and us too. :D
She is up to her old tricks trying to chase Kittee and LittleBit, antagonizing Mickee and is enjoying going to her toybox and pulling out all the toys...talking at me to get me on the floor to play with her, then taking her toy away to just outside of my arms length and ignoring me:o Yep that's our Rozee.
She is also exploring new territory in the recently landscaped back yard...new grass area to leave her pee mail :p although it wasn't meant for that but she's the Rozee, Queen of all she survey's. She also continuously keeps walking up to the pool and looking at us as if to ask is it okay to go swimming. No Rozee, it's too cold. Will have to wait for a few more months. She loves to swim and in the summer months she will just jump right in the pool :)
So all in all we feel blessed with her recovery and thank everyone here for the support, prayers and good thoughts.
I'll see if I can sneak another video in later today. Hope all is well with you and yours :)

Hi John!
So happy to hear our baby is doing so well. And, hey, aren't we ALL curious when we move into a new house? It is such a blessing to have good news after the last couple of months that we have had on this site. I am anxious to see another video. She is just TOO cute and she is a real little movie star!
If I remember correctly, you moved to the desert (?). We live in the California desert, near Palm Springs, but you wouldn't believe it as it has been so cold.
Glad to know everything is okay at your house. Let's hope we all have a happy, healthy new year with only good things.

Just an update on Rozee for those of you that remember when she hurts herself and couldn't walk almost a year ago...... then spent 22 weeks in her wheelchair...
She turned 16 today :D:D:D and is getting around just great :D:D She still loves to run and chase her toys, she still loves to go swimming and when she gets out of the pool, she runs around like a mad woman... both Pattee and I get all panicky trying to get her to slow down, but nothing doing, she has to run and roll around all over the grass and, she loves her naps.
Happy 16 th Birthday Rozee :D:D:D

A little help needed..
Rozee has been doing pretty good, has an age related eye ulcer that is finally healing up nicely. took about 8 weeks and will still need another visit to the canine ophthalmologist, hopefully for an all clear.
Last night was spent in the Vet E.R. She started walking around in circles because she did not have good control of her right front leg. We took her in and vet said to put her on the floor and she walked perfectly, we were so happy, but as soon as the vet left the room, she started again.
I called the vet back in and he did witness it.... after numerous blood test with results being pretty darn good for our old gal, he had many could be's which kind of left us confused. He did say she was ataxsic but being 17 and we have noticed for quite a while and understandably that she is not as strong as she used to be.
Anyway, here is a video, you can see her right paw / leg crossing over to the left which was forcing her to walk in left circles. When we got home last night we gave her tramadal and then we all went to bed. This morning she woke up and is walking normal again :D
But we still have no idea of what could have caused this, maybe a pinched nerve? We asked if it was a possible stroke, he replied that stokes are very rare in dogs and proceeded to explain that they don't really live long enough to get artery disease.
http://youtu.be/HPgZ-tZJLds
Oh and when we tried to feed her, as she chewed her food, her head and neck kept jerking further and further to the left.
Any ideas?

Hi John,
Now that I have seen this, I can tell you the first thing I thought of....she is moving a whole lot like Sophie did after her attack. Sophie's neck was injured, including a vertebrae, but there is a tendon that runs down the neck, to the shoulder, then down the legs which then splits to service the tibia and fibula. That tendon rides in a little slot on the shoulder blade. When Soph's neck was hurt, that tendon was pulled out of that slot, losing the ability to control her leg normally. The first few times I let her out of the crate to see how she was doing and moving, she would move in circles similar to this because the leg wouldn't / couldn't go where she wanted it to. I was afraid she had sustained injury to the brain as well but Doc B said it was probably due to the tendon....and he was right. As she's healed, she can walk, run, spin, bounce and move totally normal again.
Doc told me the name of that tendon, in fact, pulled out the text books for me as usual to explain everything, showing pictures, but my memory didn't retain that part. :o But what Rozee is doing is how Soph moved when she first started to heal. Not saying that's what's going on but that is what came to mind when I saw the video and wanted to share with you Sophie's behavior and the cause for it.
Many hugs and much love,
Leslie

Thanks Lori and Leslie,
So far so good. :) She started again just a little last night but we made her rest and so far so good. We are not letting her even take the 4 inch step to go outside. We carry her over the door step.
We are also thinking it's a nerve or nerve tendon combination. Just going to continue to keep a close eye and baby her..
Thanks :)

Hi John and Pattee,
I'm so relieved to hear that Rozee is doing much better. I can only imagine how scared you two must have been and I know you've developed eyes in the back of your heads. Our dogs are so clueless about how much fear they put in our hearts from time to time. Too bad us humans can't be that clueless. Well actually, there are some that are, if you know what I mean. :D
Give that sweet Rozee a hug from her Auntie Glynda.
Roxee's Dad
10-18-2012, 12:08 AM
Thank you Sharlene and Glynda :)
The eyes in the back of the head are very needed, if we don't keep an eye on her, sometimes she will go running and hopping off in a happy mood. I sometimes think we are too overprotective but at her age we don't want to take any chances. That episode just scared the crap out of us.
Luckily, she does sleep a lot and I always said, sleep is healing time.
Passed on the hugs from her Auntie Glynda :)

Spoke too soon.. she had another episode last night and another short episode this morning :( So Pattee whisked her off to the vet today and showed him the youtube video. His first thought was muscle spasm.
After a very thorough exam involving holding her in a way to test each leg individually, when the affected leg was being tested.. he could feel the muscle in her shoulder already spasing. So he cancelled the x-rays.
So continue on the metacam and don't let her run around too much. Hopefully it heals with continued rest.
It's hard when she looks so confused and can't understand why when she tries to walk straight... she ends up facing the wrong way. Then looks around to see where we are at and tries another attempt. At that point she is immediately picked up and cuddled.

Oh poor little thing. Well, at least you know it is a muscle problem and should heal with time. Great excuse, as if any are needed, for immediate cuddles. :) We'll just try to stay looking on the positive.
Hopefully this will heal quickly and she'll be back to walking straight again in no time.
Hugs,
Sharlene
Hi John,
Checking in on Roz and wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
When they thought Zoe had a possible pinched nerve, Our IMS said 6 weeks of rest, no walking is what she will usually prescribe.
I sure hope Roz just had a muscle issue. Zoe sprained her toe:rolleyes:

Thanks Addy, Sharlene and Kim :)
Our Rozee is doing pretty good for an old gal. It seems it was just a muscle spasm, probably from fighting with Pattee when she try's to give her eye meds and she jumped off the couch to run away...
We are overprotective I know, but we don't let her jump the 4 inch step to go outside anymore ... we carry her out but we do let her jump back in. She still has her great moments when she want to run and play or roll around in the cool grass and we enjoy every minute of it.
She has only had a few more episodes since, but hasn't had one in a few weeks :)
Zoe sprained her toe ??? Awwww... hope she feels better soon!!
Face washing... finally!!! and you get to keep your fingers??? LOL

Rozee had an enjoyable time in the pool today, although she can't swim anymore (she paddles but just sinks) she was in my arms and enjoyed just floating around then ran around the yard and house like a crazy woman. She then smelled the grill and the filet mignon wrapped in bacon, and just couldn't wait for dinner :)
My heart goes out to Vicki and Kathy :( A very difficult day for our cush family. I am sure our Roxee along with many of our cush family were at the Rainbow Bridge waiting to show their cush brothers the ropes and running wildly through the grass meadows with tails a wagging.

Thanks ladies.. she's a good ole girl and yes, spoiled as one can be, always has been. Often times she just likes me to pick her up and she will fall asleep in my arms. I love it... but but.. I have things to do, but she will always come first. She never used to like to be cuddled until she lost her hearing and her eyesight went down hill. Now I think it is just a trust and comfort zone for her.
I love her to pieces but then I love em all but Rozee is Roxee's litter mate sister, so she has a very special place in my heart.
John, how wonderful Rozee is eighteen and it is to your credit, no doubt about it. I love it that she cuddles in your arms now. My little Kujo Zoe has started cuddling, something I alway wanted her to do but she never would. Though Zoe will still try to bit me when I try to clean her face:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Rozee was laid to rest today. I had a vet come to our house and she passed quietly in my arms. Together we overcame a lot of adversity over the years but we could not overcome her issues of age. I learned from Sas was that a dog must have a "Dog worthy life"
Today, she joins her litter mate sister Roxee at the Rainbow Bridge. They are together again.
I dreaded having to say these words..... with a huge hole in my heart and tears in my eyes....
Rest in Peace my Sweet Rozee, Tonight you are our newest and brightest star in the sky....

Thank you so much for sharing in my grief. I truly miss her but after looking at her photos especially the one posted in the ILM album, watching her video's seeing how happy she was running around in her wheelchair and seeing how happy and full of life she was, I realize we may have waited too long. She was not the happy little girl she always was. She was only a shell of a body of her former happy self. I feel more guilty about not ending her pain earlier.
She is at rest now, no more pain, no more misery, no more confusion. I so miss her but in a strange way, I am happy for her more now than I have been for quite a while. I still miss her cuddling and falling asleep in my arms as she did every day.
Once again, thank you everybody for your kindness at such a difficult time.

John,
I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet girl Rozee.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm sorry I didn't see this post sooner.
Hugs
John,
I am sorry that I am just now reading about the loss of your sweet Rozee. So very sorry for your loss. What a good and LONG life she lived, but even so, that is a hard decision to make. We don't love them any less as they age; in fact, I am sure we love them even more. Please don't second guess yourself about the timing. Everyone always says when it is time, you will know. I believe that to be true. So the timing was as it should have been.
Take care of yourself.
