Hi all,

I just got an email from vitacost, and they have "Farmer's Market Organic Pumpkin" 15oz for $2.39. Thought this might be helpful for those who use a lot of it.

Thanks for the info. Jane. I haven't been able to get canned pumpkin here for a long time. They still don't have it in the stores, as there was a shortage. I've been giving Corky sweet potatoes.

The thing with canned pumpkin (or boiled/steamed/microwaved pumpkin) is that a small amount is very good for treating diarrhea - and constipation for that matter - in dogs. Lots of people here are big pumpkin fans for that reason.

The canned pumpkin has to be just plain canned pumpkin with no added spices etc. so checking the label is necessary.

I'm in Australia (as is Jane) and I don't think it is available here - we have to cook up fresh pumpkin.

Canned pumpkin is also good for weight loss -- just substitute canned pumpkin for part of the kibble or canned food. Most dogs like the taste of it and it is filling. Green beans can also be used but McGill and Winnie both preferred the pumpkin.
