I believe in the magic of Christmas.
Many, many years ago, my grandmother told me a Christmas story. She had a major role in raising me and she has always been my hero. She past away about 20 years ago but I will never forget her love or the person that she was. When Pattee and I first got together, I would stay up every Christmas Eve and sit with our pup, her name was Chainee (short for Chainsaw) at the time. I would leave a party early because I always had to be home before midnight on Christmas Eve. :o When Pattee asked me why, I could only answer that there is a magical moment when the animals can speak, I didn’t remember the whole story but just remembered sitting with my grandmother on Christmas Eve and waiting. Patty said she had never heard of this before so she just always played along and put up with my need to be home by midnight.:o
About 10 years ago or so, she was shopping and came across a Christmas card and after reading the story, she purchased all that they had. She was excited :D because she now had found the whole story that I had so longed to remember in memory of my grandmother. :)
The animals gave Him a manger-bed,
Gathering near as Christ was born,
And when He smiled and blessed their love,
The animals spoke on Christmas morn.
And now on every Christmas Eve,
A wondrous miracle takes place,
And the Animals speak among themselves,
Of the love that smiled from Jesus’ face.
Based on an ancient Slavic legend
So some 50 years later, I still have to be home by midnight on Christmas Eve, surrounded by my babies in the hopes they have something to say.:o :):):)
I still believe in the magic of the season and the magic of hope. I guess it's something learned or passed down from my grandmother.
Wishing everybody a Happy Holiday with special thoughts for our members that are going through a very difficult time and for all furry friends in need of a good home.
